What was most interesting was that his name was on top of it, stating him to be chief of the Haurvatat Volunteer Fire Crew. He couldn't remember volunteering, but was curious about it none the less. TJ had decided she needed to get out and actually meet some people. It wouldn't do to become a hermit, after all. So she'd made the decision to go hang out at the local pub; it reminded her of her college days. She wasn't drinking, of course, being more than noticeably pregnant, but she was sitting at a table close enough that she could easily and subtly eavesdrop on the two men who were obviously pilots.

TJ wasn't a pilot herself, but she was Air Force. She'd covered the absolute basics.

"Excuse me," she interjected about halfway through the one man's St. Petersburg story. "I don't mean to eavesdrop but that is an amazing story."

Emergency landing stories generally were.

Martin turns at her interjection. He's been so engrossed in his story, he hasn't noticed anyone else has been listening. "Oh. Do you think so? I... I mean, yes, it was quite an experience."

He smiles broadly, unexpected interested audience is rare, but very welcome.

It would have been embarrassing for TJ if she had been noticed listening, so it was better that she wasn't. She returned the smile she received easily. "Do you mind if I ask what you were doing in Russia of all places?"

"Freezing his backside off?" Jim suggested with a smirk in Martin's direction before looking over at TJ and winking at her.

With a nod in the direction of Martin's overly decorated hat on the table he stated, "Commercial pilot. Told me he flies for a charter airline."
