Leoben had given Alissa skates for the Christian holiday celebrated by many on Earth known as 'Christmas'. She hadn't though of getting Leoben anything because she didn't think he celebrated and didn't understand the why celebrating a birth of a child that could or could not be from a diety on a day humans thought was the correct date was

Buffy was out on the ice practicing a jump that was easier only because of her Slayer ability than any true skill (though she wasn't bad on her own either.) As she came to a stop she noticed a young blonde girl with skates and her smile widened, skating over toward her.

"Hey. New here?"

Alissa looks up when the young woman approaches on skates. It doesn't look too difficult, but Alissa's still trying to figure out why humans would want to skate on ice when there was better means of transportation. When the girl had jumped, the velocity had hindered her momentum which would decrease the distance traveled. Confusing.

She nods. "Yes."

Alissa hold out the certificate. "I received this for... Christmas." She decides to choose the colloquial term instead of saying 'the Catholic celebration of the winter solstice masked by the birth of a child.'

Buffy looked down at the certificate and nodded. It must have been one that Nathan had sold. "Great. I'm Buffy. Did you want to try skating now or were you just checking the place out to see if you want to give it a try?"

Alissa knows Buffy's name from the owner list of the establishments. She assumes the owner would be the most appropriate person to teach the skill.

She looks out to the rink, then back to Buffy. "I would like to learn now."

Alissa pauses, then decides to add due to social protocol. "My name is Alissa."

Obi-wan hadn't really understood skating before or the appeal, but after being stuck to Nathan during that strange weekend, he'd grown to enjoy it.

He didn't often do things just for the sake of having fun, but others had suggested he should so he'd decided to listen. And ice skating was one such way he'd decided to do it.

Seeing the girl at the edge of the rink, sensing that she was looking for something, skated over, "Are you looking for someone?"

Alissa watches the boy skate and notes that it looks relatively easy. She's confident that she will master it quickly.

When he approaches, she watches his skates and then looks up when he stops to meet his gaze. "I received skates for Christmas and I am supposed to have skating lessons."

"Oh, um..." he looked around but didn't see any of the instructors around, "I'm sure someone who work here will be around soon. I've only just started to learn to skate myself."

She tilts her head to the side. "Do you find it difficult?"
