P3 Thanksgiving - Multi-Pup Post (OtA)

Phoebe knew there were plenty of people without family in the Village, and so decided that holding a big Thanksgiving gathering for people was a good idea. She arranged with a caterer in the Village to supply the club with a dinner meal for the evening and set up the drinks herself. Each table had a turkey with flowers and one complimentary drink

She might not've had a date, but she did have a friend -- with the potential for more -- who was damn well determined to stop in and see how things were going.

Besides, it wasn't like had anybody in the village to spend the holiday with. His team, such as it was was having their own version of the holiday over at their own table.

"Hello, love," he greeted warmly, with a smile. "Everything looks fantastic."

Phoebe looked up from preparing a drink order to smile at Lester when she heard him greet her.

"Hello, James," she said with a smile. "How are you doing?"

Connor hadn't been entirely certain about celebrating the holiday out, but celebrating it at Phoebe's had been the perfect compromise with his overly-worrying self -- it was celebrating out, but nothing terribly involved.

"Having fun, love?" he asked Wanderer softly.

She nodded, leaning against him. "It's nice and I'm glad that Phoebe wasn't alone this year."

"Me, too," Connor said. Phoebe had always been nice to him and didn't mind when he spent a lot of Wanderer's shifts sitting at the bar, whether he drank or not. "And oh, look, she's talking to my boss. That amuses the crap out of me."

She giggled softly. "Is he going to ask her out on a date like you did with me?"

Melanie had been worried that she'd feel like the fifth wheel -- not that they'd intentionally make her feel like that, of course, but things happened. She'd been happy to discover, however, that she really didn't feel like that, in the midst of two happy couples.

It would've been nice to not be alone, though.

She shoved that thought aside, though, as she listened to Becker recounting his story. Man, and she thought her past was weird.

Wanderer was watching Melanie's face as she Becker wound down the latest story and she smiled impishly.

"Their lives make ours seem almost tame by comparison," she whispered.

"And tame is the last word I'd use to describe our lives," Melanie said with a wry smile.

She shook her head. "I've only told them a little bit. But that was because I was scared when Connor first met me because he caught me off guard."

Becker was happy to see Abby doing so well with being out in a crowd of people, even if it was a fairly small crowd. She was doing better in general, but that didn't mean certain parts of it didn't make him more than a little happy.

He smiled at her and squeezed her hand lightly. "Love you," he murmured.

"Love you, too," she murmured back to him, relaxing more against him.

This wasn't one of their holidays, and maybe that's why it was a little easier to relax right now. That and they knew Phoebe.

And Becker was all for anything that made it easier for Abby to relax.

"I'm glad we did this," he said.
