From the moment they first met, he was always leaving her. Most days this doesn't matter much, when she was younger of course she always knew he'd be back - whatever he may have said about being happy to see the back of her ( Read more... )

Funny that Charles seemed to be looking for someone named Jack as well. Could it be the same Jack?

The guns dissuade him from asking at the moment, merely biding his time as he glances at the art and artifacts.

She's just a deadly without the guns really, but he can hardly be expected to know that.

Jack is playing hard to get, a first for the man, or he's possibly not at work at present.

She put her hands on her hips and spoke, either to herself or to the nearest person a slim attractive young man, hard to tell really.

"You'd think he'd be easy to locate, tall, dark, handsome, likely flirting with all the octogenarians on staff."

Ah, it might be the same Jack after all.

Charles chuckled. "One would think. Are you seeking Jack Harkness?"

"I am," That got him a look, a real assessing look. "I was hoping he'd be willing to blow off his work and spend the afternoon shooting things with me."

She was the boss, one of them, so it would be okay.

Jack had just been finishing up taking a group through the Egypt exhibit when he heard the shouting. It didn't take him long to figure out who it was, and Jack was laughing as he peaked out into the main hall to see her.

"You rang?"

"Feel like playing hooky?" She smiled brightly at him, and if it didn't quite reach her eyes then maybe he wouldn't comment.

He wouldn't, or else she might start commenting when he did the same.

Jack grinned back at her, "Like you even need to ask."

"Well it did seem more polite than dragging you off against your will to the firing range." She smiled unrepentantly.

So, I'm in the museum, trying to enjoy myself and get educated (though, much of this history is not my own, I am almost sure), and some bitch decides to come in and carry around some weapons with her.

Most people are staying far away, but I don't move, I just turn and raise my brow. Is she being serious, here? I guess it is a way to get someone's attention, but perhaps a simple phone call or text would suffice.

"A human hunting game in a museum?" I ask, sarcastically.

"Why limit myself to humans," River was unphased by the sarcasm. In fact it made her like the stranger on sight, that and the hair. The hair was truly fantastic.

I watch her carefully, trying to figure out if she was planning on actually shooting here. It didn't seem so with her comment back to me. Oh, if I could find a wig like that in my usual shade of blond... instead I'm wearing my usual. The one that my 'hedheads' would wear foam versions of.

"Good choice, honey. Best not to limit yourself." I smirk slightly. "Sorry, I haven't seen any gorgeous men here, so I don't think this Jack is about right now."

"Gorgeous is in the eye of the beholder," look at the Doctor. He was hardly your typical pretty boy. Usually.

"But I think you're right, I haven't seen him about." More was the pity.
