When Alice walked into Rangeman, she noticed that Riley was re-dressing a wound on his lower arm. She surveyed him quietly with her eyes. He'd been fighting again and it was starting to get hard to tell who was winning. Instead of walking by him, she approached the front desk where he was currently sitting ( Read more... )

Buffy had been concerned about Riley. She was noticing the tell tale signs of what she'd done when she'd first come back to life. It had been a niggling suspicion at first but it was getting stronger now. She'd even followed him one night thinking that he was going to Fangtasia for some biting and she wasn't sure if she was relieved or not that he'd gone into the fight club.

She was determined to find out what was up but she didn't want to just come out and ask. Buffy knew from her own experience that he'd probably tighten up and go on the defensive so this called for sneaky.

Her hand knocked on the doorjamb into his office. "Hey, feel like buying a girlfriend a meal?"

"Okay I admit when I found out you were from Iowa, I might have thought what was I thinking." Buffy admitted with a wry smile, "but I soon realized that all that hay tossing or whatever you farmboys do with hay gave you sexy wide shoulder and then I was imagining you in a sleeveless shirt, wiping sweat off your forehead or dousing yourself with water to cool off and yeah went to a happy place and knew exactly what I was thinking."

Riley flushed again, ducking his head for a moment before lifting it again and shaking his head. "Now I'm thinking maybe I should go see if the farms are hiring."

"Or at least summer help so I can watch you strip down to your jeans and cool off with water." Buffy waggled her eyebrows, "Or we can role play." She teased him --- sort of.

Despite his willingness to be adventurous in bed with her, his flush deepened. It just wasn't something he was used to talking about so opening, especially in public. He liked that, though, about Buffy. She had a lot of confidence.

He wasn't sure what to say to that, though thankfully they had reached TRON. Riley had to admit they had some very good sandwiches here. He held the door open for Buffy.

Buffy smiled slightly at Riley's flushed cheeks before she stepped inside of Tron and waited for her eyes to adjust to the new light level in the sandwich shop. "Ooo that wrap looks good." She pointed to one on the menu.

He nodded, looking over the menu. They had salads and fruit as well. If they were going to have a picnic, he figured they might as well have a proper one. Riley ordered a few items, then looked back to Buffy to see if he missed anything.

(ooc: He forgot dessert, cause, he's Riley lol)

Buffy leaned her chin on Riley's shoulder as she looked over the menu with him. When he finished ordering, she added in a healthy chocolate dessert because of Slayer metabolism she didn't have to worry about it.

"Might have to jog back to Rangeman, but it'll be worth it."

He chuckled. "Maybe a couple of laps, but you're right." Riley wished he had Buffy's metabolism. At least she kept him active enough that it didn't overly effect him much.

When the order was ready, Riley made sure he was the one carrying everything. "You get to choose the spot." He was looking forward to this picnic.

"When I walked by the park I noticed a really nice spot that's by the lake and under trees." She held open the door for him since he was carrying the food. "Hopefully that will give us water breeze and shade."

Not that it was stifling hot but it was very much summer.

"I like your thinking." He really did and it was times like this when he was glad to be brought to the village with Buffy here.

"Remember the first time we went on a picnic?" Awkward.

"With Willow!" Buffy grinned. "You know you captured my heart just a little bit that day." He had been so sweet to Willow right after Oz left.

He smiled a little. "I was a little worried at the time I came off as kind of a dork."

"Not even a little. Okay maybe a little but it was adorable dorkishness not dork dork." Buffy said and then pointed over to where she thought would make a good picnic area. "There. Does that work?"

He looked at the spot, then nodded. "Looks great." It was even a little private, too.

Riley set the bags down and started to unpack. Maybe they should have stopped at the corner store for a blanket, but it was too late now.

Buffy glanced down and had the same exact thought as Riley and laughed as she sat on the grass. "Okay note to self, when you decide you'd like a picnic with your boyfriend, bring a blanket." She reached for one of the plastic plates Tron had provided and handed it to Riley.
