Some younger kids were trying to do a spell way beyond their skill level. One of them said the words and suddenly a large flame leaped from the ground. The children cried out, startled, and couldn't seem to find a way to control it. Merlin looked up, concern on his face. The fire was spreading slowly. He spoke lowly, and when he cast the spell, his eyes flashed golden for a moment. "Acwence þa bælblyse." The fire extinguished and Merlin quickly went back to reading his book before the children could realize who had helped.

"It was nothing, really." His accent was British in oriented, but older than ones found in modern Britain. "I'm just glad no one got hurt." Because that was a very strong possibility.
