First Day at the Magic School [Tag Hermione, Carlos, OTA!]

Aug 22, 2012 13:56

Anouk was at the school with her mother early - a whole half hour early - in order to pick up her schedule and anything else she might need. Perhaps it was because Vianne was nervous enough for both of them, but Anouk didn't feel nervous at all - she felt like she was preparing to climb a mountain, moreso. Nothing she couldn't handle, so long as ( Read more... )

Merlin had his head down in a book, though his mind was on what he would be doing soon with Rikki and Draco in order to help let Arthur see that magic could be used for good. Of course, they were pretending Rikki was ill so the only magic being used was the potion Draco had made to make Rikki seem sick, but it was the only way Merlin could think of.

Some younger kids were trying to do a spell way beyond their skill level. One of them said the words and suddenly a large flame leaped from the ground. The children cried out, startled, and couldn't seem to find a way to control it. Merlin looked up, concern on his face. The fire was spreading slowly. He spoke lowly, and when he cast the spell, his eyes flashed golden for a moment. "Acwence þa bælblyse." The fire extinguished and Merlin quickly went back to reading his book before the children could realize who had helped.

Anouk hadn't been trying the spell, but she'd been watching. She noticed the older boy who put it out and she walked up to him and tapped him on the arm.

"Thank you. For helping them."

Merlin looked up at the tap and ducked his head just a little with a small, though somewhat meek smile. He hadn't done it to be thanked and had sort of hoped to go unnoticed.

"It was nothing, really." His accent was British in oriented, but older than ones found in modern Britain. "I'm just glad no one got hurt." Because that was a very strong possibility.

She nodded back. "The Headmaster was right - it can be dangerous." Anouk wasn't so sure about this whole going to Magic School thing, anymore. It was overwhelming, and the day wasn't even over, yet.

Hermione could remember just how hard it was starting at Hogwarts and although it was a lot easier here, it wasn't a boarding school, she didn't want the young girl to feel too unsure or alone. Which was why she felt more than happy to say she could help. Why shouldn't she? Everyone needed help really especially when starting a new school. As she walked in, she spotted the woman easily as she had said over the messenger.

"Hello. I'm Hermione Granger, we spoke yesterday?"

Vianne smiled. "Yes! Hermione. I'm Vianne, and this is Anouk." She pulled Anouk in for a swift hug, to the girl's dismay.

"Hello." Anouk said, trying to decide if this girl was really as nice as she seemed.

"It's nice to meet you both." She was eager to get back into school, even if she was old enough to leave now. She would have been done with Hogwarts by now but that doesn't mean she would stop going here. There didn't seem to be an age limit.

"Are you looking forward to starting, Anouk?"

Anouk hesitated. "I think so." She was nervous - that much showed - and it was putting a little damper on her excitement.

Vianne smiled. "Shall I leave you two, then? Thank you again, Hermione. But I have a shop to open."

Glinda looked at the building from the courtyard. Why was she doing this again? Granted, expanding your horizons is never a bad thing, but she honestly had enough of school at Shiz. She noticed the clothing on some of the other students, and looked down at her powder blue dress. She felt woefully overdressed, and almost wished she had opted for something more modern. Closing her eyes and concentrating, she found herself in a modest pants suit. Much better. She hadn't noticed the young girl in the courtyard until that moment. She gave her a warm smile.

"Hello! Are you new, too?" She asked, hopefully. Maybe she should have left with Elphie. But three hours early, and loose the makeup time? Please!

"Yes, I'm new." Anouk said, watching her change her clothes by magic. It wasn't the most impressive thing she'd ever seen, but it was starting to reinforce that most of the students here had far more magic than she did.

Glinda smiled, walking over. It was nice to know she wasn't the only new student. That was intimidating enough at Shiz.

"My roommate got here earlier, I assume. We were supposed to go together. She came early, can you imagine? I'm Glinda." She said, with a curtsey.

"I'm Anouk." She wasn't sure what else to say - this student was so much older than her! Draco's age, or thereabouts.
