Boys Will Be Boys (OTA, tag Marian)

Robin sat hidden amongst an evergreen tree near the lake. From his position, he had perfect sight and aim at an acorn tree which seemed to have held onto many acorns even in the cooling weather. It was as if God himself wanted Robin to do what he was doing. Sure, he was in a strange village with unimaginable things like candles with no flames and ( Read more... )

When Marian woke up alone it wasn't the strangest of things. Robin's hours at work could vary and she just assumed that was where he was and he just didn't want to wake her to say he was leaving. That was all what she assumed, of course, if only she knew the truth. She stayed in for most of the morning but when it neared lunch she decided to pay her husband a visit and see if she could tempt him to eat with her. When she heard the obvious sound of an arrow, however, she didn't think of anything of it. That was until something hit her head and she saw two acorns fall to the ground just after that, her eyes lifting to look around for the culprit.

What Marian could see was a slight rustle of limbs on a tree across the way and the faint sound of boyish laughter.

The sound of laughter had her tilting her head, frowning slightly. She had a faint memory of that laugh, one that had grown deeper in years after and she instantly worried. It sounded far too young but..."Robin?!"

He tensed when he heard his name. Who was that? Certainly not anyone he knew, or at least he thought he knew. Maybe a friend of his fathers. He hesitated and then poked his head out from behind the branches to look at the lady. A very fat lady.

Andrej was walking in the park. His security were rather more distant than they had been. Well, no one was around.

"Holy Mother! I mean ow!" Something had hit his head and now there was an arrow in the oak tree above him. Security came running, looking to see who had fired. It took Andrej a moment longer than the troops to spot the dark-haired boy under a distant tree. The troops instantly pushed Andrej behind them.

"What did you do that for?" It was to the boy, not the security.

When the acorns had hit his target, he grinned and laughed at the funny reaction.

Robin was a little taken aback when the boy seemed to spot him and a defensive sort of expression crossed his face. "Because it's funny." His accent was British, but lighter than what it was when he would be a man.

The other boy had an accent Andrej had never heard before. His own Standard carried more of an Aznir accent than it would when he was older but at least he was fluent in both.

"You think shooting at other people is funny?" Andrej said. So it wasn't an accident or mistake. He would have to send his security to take the boy to the authorities but he wasn't quite sure who that might be.

"I didn't shoot you." He said it in a very childishly irritated way as he rolled his eyes. "I shot the tree and made a few nuts fall on you. That's all. I didn't think you'd be such a baby about it." He gave the younger boy a look of attitude.

Was that a girl? He'd have thought no a first considering she was in pants, but then she sounded like a girl and her hair was in two with ribbons so it must be. That was the first thing strange about the girl. The second thing was she didn't react like most girls would have. She didn't cry or scream or anything - which was a bit disappointing, really. And then she started climbing the tree. Girls didn't climb trees. It looked rather hard with whatever that was on her arm.

"If you took that thing off, you'd be able to climb better." He called out from his position in the other tree.

He had no idea why she had to keep that silly-looking thing on her arm. Maybe her parents were the sort of people who believed in weird foreign treatments of things.

"No." He said so defensively and looked down at her from where he sat. "I shot at the tree. If I had shot at you, you'd be dead."

So there.
