just need a drink [ota]

Jenna had never been to The Black Sheep before but she had thought it was about time to go somewhere new, somewhere where she could possibly just blend in and have a few drinks.  The last week hadn't been easy but she had finally started to feel better after having her talk with Ric.  Or at least she had till she had messaged Elijah which had led ( Read more... )

Elijah was calmer than he had been the night Klaus arrived. Things still hurt, emotions still boiled under the surface--he was confused and angry and hurt, but he was calmer. He was used to it, to reeling feelings in and being cool and collected, even when he wanted to lash out.

Only occasionally did he resort to sticking pencils in disrespectful vampires' necks.

Only a few times had he thought how eminently satisfying it might be to do so to Alaric.

But when he walked into the pub, none of that showed. He spotted Jenna and moved to her table, taking a seat, and waving for a server to bring him a glass and a bottle of tequila. This not being Fangtasia, she looked a little startled at the bottle request, but she complied.

"Hello, Jenna."

Jenna looked up as Elijah's shadow fell over her and, for a moment, she looked unsure of herself as he sat down. Normally she would have smiled and greeted him warmly but she could only sit back slightly as he sat down, watching him all the while.

"Hello, Elijah."

It didn't feel right to be stiff but she didn't know what to do. Looking at the waitress, she motioned at her drink to signal that she wanted another one. When they were left alone again, she looked to Elijah once more. She would ask him how he was doing but she could tell something was wrong.

"I'm glad you came out."

"I'm glad you asked me." His voice was quiet. "I'm sorry if I was rude earlier. It's been...a difficult week. I know it has been for you, as well. It's no excuse."

He didn't want to blame her, didn't want to feel the hurt. He couldn't blame her for how she felt, after all.

He'd just let her die, before. His vengeance had been all he could see. That it wouldn't have saved her for him to act--Klaus's vengeance for interrupting the ritual would have been unfathomably (Katerina could have told them that price)--didn't matter. He'd let her die. And then he hadn't avenged her. He'd let Klaus live.

He didn't even have the right to be upset they didn't trust him to do any different now. That didn't change the fact that he was, however he tried to bury it again.

Jenna nodded slowly as he apologized for being rude, remaining silent as the waitress came back with their order. Smiling a brief thanks, she took her drink and quickly took a long swallow.

"Are you going to tell me what brought it on? Besides it being a hard week?" She asked plainly, setting her glass down.

Dyson was finishing up his rounds for the evening, and stopped off at the Black Sheep on his way back to the hotel to grab some of their ale. Normally he would go to In and Out but if he was honest he preferred the ale at the pub.

He slid onto a stool a few seats down from a woman and ordered an ale, he'd taken a sip before he became aware that her scent was different. And vaguely familiar.

Which was why he was looking at her quizzically.

Jenna felt the gaze that was on her and she looked up with a curious expression to see who it was watching her. Finally noticing the man sitting on a stool nearby, she arched a brow at the confused expression on his face.

"Can I help you?"

He inhaled deeply to confirm, eyes flashing yellow briefly before he frowned and cocked his head, "You're the vampire.. the one who fed on Bo."

Jenna sat a little straighter at the mention of Bo, especially after seeing his eyes flash yellow. "You must be the boyfriend." She was already wondering if she should run now or not.

Klaus was out, being Klaus and drinking, all by himself. He was checking in at all of the different bars to get a feel for what they were like. Walking into The Black Sheep, he spotted the back of Jenna's head and with a smile that was only for himself, he moved over to her table.

He slid into a seat, putting both elbows on the table and tilting his head at her, giving her a smile. "Aunt Jenna. How's the family been?"

As genuine as his smile was, his words were certainly sarcastic enough.

Jenna looked up as Klaus joined her at her table and she bit back a sigh at the greeting. It really shouldn't have surprised her that he had found her but she wasn't really sure that she had the patience to deal with him.

"It's Jenna for you." She pointed out, sipping her drink once more. "And you would know better than me, wouldn't you?" She wasn't about to tell him that Jeremy had arrived.

"No, I've made some sort of...agreement to leave the Gilberts and company alone," Klaus answered, flagging down a waiter to bring him a glass of whiskey. Of course, he meant Elena and, well, everyone else Elijah had mentioned.

"Which is a shame, because, well...I haven't had a nasty thought about anyone from Mystic Falls since I showed up. I have to say, I think Elijah might be going a bit overboard with the worry." He'd certainly had hateful thoughts about Katherine, though, but what else was new?

He didn't acknowledge any other possibility of her question, that she was implying that he'd broken the family apart back home.

"You did, did you?" If she was surprised, she didn't let it show but she didn't really look like she believed him either. "And who did you make this agreement with?" She could guess but she still wanted the answer from him.

"You really can't blame him though, can you?" She asked dryly, glancing up as a waitress came to ask him if he wanted anything to drink. She opened her mouth to state that he wouldn't be staying at her table but then she stopped herself for some reason. Instead, she looked a bit annoyed as she drained her glass and pushed it towards the waitress.

"I'll have another."
