Kit was adjusting all right to the village, all things considered. It was a bit annoying to not be able to leave, admittedly, but, then, he hadn't been able to leave Hell the last few decades (well, he could have, but he hadn't really pushed to), so confinement wasn't exactly a new thing. And there were interesting people to watch and stories to ( Read more... )

It was the cloak that caught Morgana's attention more than anything else about him, and it wasn't that it was patchwork. She hadn't seen a cloak on anyone wearing the modern trousers of jeans, the combination worked more than it should.

Her lips curled up into a friendly smile in greeting when she approached him on the streets.

Kit caught the smile of the young woman and found himself returning it, even as something in it gripped him and rippled down his spine. He stumbled slightly over his own feet and fumbled to a halt, staring. He knew her smile. Her eyes.

She was younger--no gray streaked through her hair--but it was Morgan.

The shock showed clearly on his face. "Morgan...?"

Morgana shook her head, her smile was warm and kind. "No, I'm sorry you must have me confused with someone else. I'm Morgana. It happens in the village from time to time. There is a man here that looks like Uther Pendragon but he is not."

Her words only confirmed for him her identity, though her warm smile seemed to rattle him a bit more than anything. Gods, but she was young.

"No, my lady. If you know Uther Pendragon, I am not confused. Merely you have not come to be known by just Morgan, yet. My apologies for speaking to you so familiarly." She wouldn't know him, not yet. The fact that Merlin was here had already well alerted him to the vagaries of time in this place.

Cedric had swung back by the magic school to go through the library for a bit. The Muggle library didn't have anything that useful about actual magic, and the magic school library didn't seem to have much about Muggle gadgetry, much less how to combine them. It was a touch frustrating.

Fortunately, Cedric was notoriously sunny-tempered. So, after a couple of hours without suggest, he decided to scrap the effort for the day and depart.

He was distracted enough that he nearly ran right into the man who entering the building at the same time Cedric was leaving.

"I beg your pardon - terribly rude of me." The man's face was unfamiliar, but striking.

Kit reached out to steady the young man and himself before he stumbled. He gave him a bit of a smile, both in surprise and reassurance, both.

"It's all right. No harm done."

"Well, I should have been paying more attention - just came from spending too many hours with my nose in books." Cedric said. "I'm Cedric, by the way. Are you a new student?"

"Kit," he offered in return, with a smile and a shrug. "And I know how that can be." The smile grew a bit more amused at being taken for a student by the young man, and he shook his head. "Not a student. I was looking for the headmaster or headmistress, actually, to see about a teaching position."

Desire leaned artfully against a wall, eyes carefully not following any one person in particular as they walked along.

Until a man caught its attention. He seemed interesting - and certainly older than he should.

Waiting until he passed it's leaning post, Desire stretched onto its feet and glided casually after him.

Kit had noticed it when he passed--he had been a spy, he noticed everything--but he didn't give much thought, intent on his task, until he felt the sensation of being followed.

Glancing back over his shoulder he gave it a quizzical smile, an eyebrow arching slightly.

Pulling a cigarette case out of its pocket, Desire smirked at him before slipping the cigarette into her mouth and accelerating slightly to walk beside Kit.

"Hello," it purred, smoke pouring out with its words.

"Hello," he answered, with a friendly enough look, though wariness lingered in his eyes. His sense of the creature who walked next to him was uncertain, like that of Amaranth. Not something he knew to name.

Ceridwen was on her way home to fix lunch for Alice when she saw him on the street. The cloak certainly made her wonder, and pause for just a minute to take it in. A sorcerer of some kind?

Kit saw the girl stop and gave her a slight bow. "Good day, mistress."

"Good day. That's an interesting cloak." she smiled, but didn't return the slight bow with a curtsy.

"Thank you," he replied, glancing at it. "I was many moons in the making of it, but was told quite plainly that no bard could be considered true without one, so. It needed to be done."

Minerva was walking through a hall of the magic school when she spotted the young man. Stopping, she greeted him with a smile.

"Simply looking about or may I be of any help?"

Kit had been looking around curiously, but at her voice he spun gracefully to face her. She seemed a person of some authority, so he gave her a bow.

"I certainly hope so. I've come to inquire if you might be hiring teachers. I'm newly arrived and in search of a job."
