Making Good on a Bet [tag Rose, ota]

Methos sat in the lobby, eying the elevator as he waited for Rose. He was looking forward to seeing the woman again. Although apparently that was becoming something of a theme for him in the village. Meeting interesting women. Bela. Helen. Rose. That was something that seldom happened to him. He was no slouch when it came to women, but he was still ( Read more... )

Rose hadn't paid much attention to what the weather was like outside but she figured if it was too cold for the outfit that she wore, she'd run upstairs again and grab a jacket.

When the lift doors opened she glanced around and saw him waiting for her. "Hullo. You settlin' all right in the village?"

Rose did a little curtsy and then turned back around to walk by his side. "Thank you. I got my voice from my dad. Got most from my dad." She grinned, "except my stubborn, my mouth and my temper. That's all mum. My sense of adventure is from my dad, too."

Her eyelid lowered in a wink, "and to answer your question from before no it wasn't from that song but me and my mate Sherise went to France a few times, long weekends. We both told our mums that we were at the others house."

Methos smiled, enjoying the fondness he could hear in her voice when she spoke of her family.

"Oh my, what a devious young woman you are." he tone is clearly teasing, "I should watch myself around you."

"Yeah you better. Never know what I might do." She grinned. "Might even trick you into buying me a pint with a bet I know I can't lose." Rose winked at him.

He gave her a wry grin, "What makes you think you tricked me, Rose?"

It was a win win for him anyhow. A free drink or a drink he purchased for her. Either way he got to spend time with a beautiful woman. Where was the downside?

"Oh is that how it is then." Rose laughed. "I'll have to keep my eye on you as well. I quite like that about you."

"I'm glad to hear that your mistrust of me is also simultaneously endearing you to me. It's a pleasant paradox, at least." he grinned.

"That's me. A paradox wrapped in a riddle. Or is that a riddle wrapped in a paradox?" She teased him. "You can just say that it's party of your charm and you are a charming man, Adam Pierson."

Methos was more than pleased by that, trying to pour on a bit more of that charm, "And you are a captivating woman, Rose Tyler. Which was why I was more than happy to lose our bet."

Rose was very tempted to weave her arm through Adam's but she refrained - for now. She was pleased with his answer and her smile reflected it. "Yeah? Charmin' and captivating. Not a bad team, quite like that. Tell me more about you. Speak dead language, knows antiques at least enough to get a job doing it or are you putting your charm to good use for the selling end of it?"

"Perhaps it's a bit of both. I don't always use my charming ways for good." he admitted, jokingly, as the stepped up to the Black Sheep.

Even though some aspects of chivalry were rather absurd to him, it didn't stop him from opening up the door for her. He had no problem with it, if it got him what he wanted. In this case, the goal was getting Rose Tyler to like him. So far so good.

“Yeah? I’ll have to remember that about your charm.” Rose winked and stepped inside the pub and inhaled deeply. Even with beer, food and smoke, the smell of a pub was something that she’d grown up with. This was her ‘comfort food’. “Feel like splurging on some chips with that pint? Or do you want to play a game of darts for it?” She grinned and headed toward a booth.

"We could play a game of darts for it. If you feel like losing." he said, matter of factly and with a smug grin.

"Or you could just let me buy you those chips and then play darts for fun."

"Oh now that sounds like a challenge. I'll take your buying of chips but we'll see who loses to who in the darts." Rose slid into a seat and motioned a waiter over.

"Two pints of beer." She smiled wide at Adam, "and a large order of chips."

"Sounds like sound proposition." he said in agreement, the amusement apparent in his eyes. Methos took a seat opposite her, "You must really like chips."

"I do, but I got the large to share." Rose eased back into her seat. "I'm nice like that. How are you adjusting to life without getting your Doctorate?"
