The specially ordered knives had been interesting, and Joslire was proud of the knives that he and Leonardo had been able to produce. Then after that, it had been back to horseshoes and wait for another special order

When Gwen had been told about the forge she had been instantly curious. It was a family trade as far as she knew. Both her father and her brother were blacksmiths, and she wouldn't be surprised if her father's family had been using such skills for years. And althought it may not be viewed as a job for a woman, Gwen had been more than capable at making things, swords and armour especially. Her knowledge was better than most back home and it only added to her draw to the place.
When she arrived, she bit her lip before knocking on the door. It would be rude to just walk into the building, plus it wasn't safe. Interrupting someone if they were working could risk both of them being injured.
"Come," Joslire called. Yes he was working, but there was a relatively safe anteroom of sorts before one got to the room with the hearth and the anvil in. It was necessary because come warm weather, Jos would have all the doors thrown open, the better to vent the searing heat.
There was a doorway between the anteroom and the forge proper, and a half wall with shutters to enclose it the rest of the way, but at this time the shutters were open, so it was possible to look through at the man hammering the piece of steel on the anvil.
Gwen hesitated a second after the voice before walking in, glancing around the room to take it in. The first thing she thought was how it didn't seem to be much different to the forge back home. Then her eyes fell on the working man and she stepped closer, but not so close that would result in her being in the way.
"You are not an intrusion, Miss. I don't work the forge for myself alone." He smiled and came forward, wiping his hands. "I am Joslire. How can I help you?"
Ruby had felt naked ever since her demon-killing knife had been stolen from her by Erica Evans. Nothing could replace that knife, it was true, but she needed something to carry, especially in this town that was becoming nearly swamped with hunters. She hoped she wouldn't have to use it, but just the weight of it in its sheath made her feel better.
She stepped inside the forge, watching as he worked, waiting to be noticed.

"Good greeting. How can I help you?"

"Good greeting yourself," she said with a grin, recognizing Robin and Kerai's salutation, and offering her hand.
"My name's Ruby, and I need a knife."

"How do you do, Mistress Ruby? I have knives ready made to sell, or I could make you one to your specifications."
