Closing a waffle iron, trapping batter between it, he looked up at the sound of the front bell ringing as the door opened and peered across at the semi-busy floor to.. Sarah. They were friends, right? Sarah and Speirs? Maybe more and maybe less, it wasn't his place although a small part of him hoped it was just a friendship.
Wiping his hands on the front the stark white apron folded and tied around his waist, Bill came out from the kitchen, grabbing a laminated menu on his way over to Sarah's booth. "Hey.. Hi Sarah." His brusque Philly-accented voice had always found an edge of softness in itself whenever she was around.. Presenting her with the menu, he offered a small smile.

"An' you!" He piped up almost too late, though he had been thinking it from the second she walked in. "You look real good, I like that dress you got on, real pretty, brings out your eyes."

She felt silly. She told herself this was no way to act and forced herself to look back up at Bill. "Thank you. I.." She was not sure what she was going to say. She paused. "Sometimes I feel a bit over-dressed, what with the majority of the fashion here in the village."
