Not in Nottingham anymore - Arrival [OTA]

Marian packed frantically. What Guy had told her, that she was to be traded to Winchester in a deal, like chattel. He was supposed to be her father's friend, and now it seemed there was something else afoot. A plan to overthrow King Richard, and yet, Guy would betray the Sheriff to save her.

Yet, she could not help to run their conversation over and over as she changed, packed, prepared to flee this place that was her prison and had once been her home.

"Gather your possessions," Guy interrupted her abruptly, closing her door, "you're leaving."

"What?"

"Now."

"Why?" It made no sense to her, none at all, especially why he was so flustered.

"Winchester has made a deal with the Sheriff, you've become part of the negotiation," he leaned over her, Marian stunned.

"Pardon?" It was all she could do to ask that. Surely Guy must be mistaken.

"Winchester. Wants you." Each word emphasized, she turned to him, disbelieving.

"Then tell him he can't have me."

"The Sheriff has agreed, I cannot protect you. Marian, listen to me, you have to run, now."

"I can't," she stood, panic welling within her, "my father-"

"I will take care of your father."

"I cannot leave him," she insisted, indignant.

It was the indigence that set Guy off. "Marian why must you always resist me? I am attempting to help you."

"I know, I can see that," she insisted, knowing she had pushed to far but still not knowing what it was she should do, "and I'm grateful."

He grabbed a leather bag from her floor, upending it on her table, "If the Sheriff knew I was doing this, my own life would be in danger."

"Then why do you work for him?" She asked the question that she had always wanted to but never been able to voice.

"I have nobody."

"So you choose him," she asked it, incredulous, packing her things away even as she did so.

"So I choose power. He is my route to position, standing."

"He is mad, you know that," she insisted, still not convinced. Still somehow believing she could convince Guy to rebel.

"He is single-minded. He does not allow distractions to divert him from his course."

"Distractions? Like a little humanity?" Her derision for the Sheriff was rife in her tone.

"Humanity is weakness."

Guy turned from her, and Marian grabbed his arm, "you don't believe that."

He had never answered her question, only giving her money and instructions to leave through the west gate. She would leave. She would find Robin, and join him, rescue her father from the dungeons. Marian would do this because Guy had given her warning.

It galled her to run, even as she slid the curved blade into her hair. Marian shouldered her bag, turning toward the opening door-

Only, it was not Guy. It was someone she did not know, and she was not in her rooms. No, she was nowhere that she knew at all.

[[OOC: Guy's text from the show, and yes, she really has just popped into someone's room. Feel free for it to be your room. She's dressed in a THIS, and doesn't exactly LOOK like she belongs in the modern era. Not that she looks period either. Oh, BBC, we love you]]
