Weather Watching (ota, tag those involved)
It didn't look as if it were a particularly good day to put the telescopes back out at the observatory, to say the least. Shortly before it was time to go to the Observatory, he would have to call the Doctor and confirm his suspicions that, yes, coming in today would be futile as he suspected.
Rather than going down to the lobby, Data was lingering near a hotel hallway window and watching the chunks of ice pour down. The Q, if this was the Q that as suspected, was probably in an extreme state of agitation to cause all of this. This was only a week, though. For a being of infinite time and infinite power, he couldn't be sure of how long exactly the Q would be in need of entertainment until his sense of loss was soothed.
He had informed the Doctor of his suspicions. If the Doctor approached the Q incorrectly during its time of dysphoria he might not be prepared for the practically fiendish reaction the Q might have to him. When Data returned to the room, he would have to call and check on him.
He wondered if the elder Q returned to the Continuum at his point of absence, and if he knew that his son was so distressed. If it were his own daughter, and he were to know she was trapped, rationally he would be struggling to reach her. Knowing the Q's opinion of things that he considered his it was very likely he could be just as jarred if he was registering his son's absence. The Doctor had children. He knew what it meant to be a father. He would be able to negotiate with the younger Q.
Perhaps Lal would have gotten along with Jenny or Susan.
After that thought, he felt the synthetic muscles of his chest tighten slightly and he set his jaw. Evaluating and schooling the reaction, he didn't want to have negative consequences to those sorts of thoughts, though he wasn't aware if it was something his programming could actually help. He wanted to remember those he had lost fondly. Mostly he managed to lose that slightly morose expression for something more perplexed.
