The sword from Boromir is completely unexpected. He had it made for me: so few people here will ever understand what that means.
Richard's gift is interesting and the card more so. Modern clothing, which I do wear, and such a mysterious note. I know what he means and it isn't the clothing. It makes me wish I'd had a cloak made for Richard. The pin could have gone on it. Yes, I might do that though I'm uncertain of how Garak would feel about it. It would be a cloak with pockets and each one containing a piece of fruit. Certainly there would be a mango.
Shasta's glad that he's gotten clothes from other people (and, yes, he did immediately don a pair of the Superman boxers... shhh) because that saves the chore of getting them for himself.
And the hardback of Robin Hood stories gets a satisfied pat. Oh, yes, he'll enjoy reading those over again!
The new sheath gets a huge grin and a "Sweet!" as he trades the old for the new.
Cool rearing horse.
The DVD copy of 'The Sound of Music' takes him by surprise. He likes music well enough and so watches it with interest.
At the part where the father sings "Edelweiss" with his daughter, he feels a sharp pang--missing his own father, brother and homeland. The song is quite similar to one that they sing in Archenland and he resolves to ask Menolly to help him write a version for the gitar
