Conference/war council at the Observatory (OTA, tag those interested!)

Sep 26, 2008 10:15

A meeting was taking place in the Observatory. For some it was a scientific conference, for others, a council of war. It was an attempt to share and discuss information about the village, and perhaps make plans for how to use that information to escape, or take control. A large table had been set out with chairs around it.

The door to the large blue wooden box opened with a fairly loud creak and the Doctor stepped out, his attention occupied by the stack of papers gripped between his hands. He shut the door without locking it, without even looking at it, and he approached the table. Collating the months of data readings was a considerable but welcome task; it kept his mind off other things, foremost among those the disturbingly growing sense of unease he perceived confining the village like a blanket of dense fog.

Avon glanced up in surprise when a dapperly-dressed blond man emerged from a cupboard. His first instinct was to reach for a weapon, but the man appeared engrossed in his paperwork and looked innocuous enough, as though appearing out of cupboards was quite an ordinary thing to do. Probably not an ambush, then. And if he was a spy, he was an exceedingly bad one. "How long have you been hiding in there?" Avon wondered aloud.

"Ah, you're the man in charge?" he asked, as if he'd not heard Avon's question. "I'm the Doctor." He held out his hand and smiled.

"Ah, then you're the, er..." Avon glanced over his shoulder at the thin man with interesting hair, who had introduced himself in a similar fashion. "...the second Doctor," he shrugged, unsure of the appropriate terminology. He shook hands, somewhat warily. "Why were you in a cupboard?"

[ooc no probs]

And there's Hellboy. Enters quietly -- yet, always makes a splash. That's what happens when you have to duck to get through most doors and resemble something akin to a cherry tomato's large, angry older brother.

Avon was starting to think this place must have run out of surprises by now when the door opened and a red giant entered the room. He looked like something out of the fairy stories Avon's mother had occasionally read to him as a child - usually when she wanted to scare him into submission. Avon rubbed his eyes briefly to make sure he wasn't seeing things, before attempting a neutral "hello..."

"Howdy," says Hellboy. "Bet it's nonsmoking in here, ain't it?"

Yep. Nice and casual.

"Were you intending to burst into flames?" Given his appearance, anything seemed possible.

Yuri had chosen to wear her uniform. Mughi was with her, though she hadn't made him carry any gear. The only unusual thing she had was a holo of the Lovely Angel, which was kind of like a 3-D commercial for that particular type of ship. The extras were for those who understood higher tech vehicles. She took a chair and Mughi sort of took the one next to her. His front part was on the table.

"Mughi, floor?"

Avon noticed the newcomer immediately, not least because of the large animal draping itself across the furniture. He cleared his throat in a semblance of politeness, determined not to show surprise this time. "Hello. Welcome to the meeting. Is this your - ah - leopard?"

"His name is Mughi. That stands for Military Utility Genetic Higher Intelligence," she said. "His species doesn't have a name because he's the last one--some scumbags trashed his planet and killed the rest."

She reined in the anger at that.

"He's fully intelligent and can understand when we talk. I've got a chip so he can talk to me. We work together, along with my partner Kei. I don't really expect Mughi to contribute to this because he really likes it here. So if he says something, it will be important." Unless it was 'running commentary', which she wouldn't translate.

"Guessing you're our gracious host? I'm Yuri, the one with the spaceship in the park." She needed to explain one very important thing. "Kei sneezed when we landed, that's why those trees got taken out."

Avon gazed with interest at the powerful-looking creature. It was really quite beautiful. Intelligence was a considerable bonus. "Your universe possesses some extremely advanced technology, then," he observed. "Impressive."

He grinned like a child at Christmas at the implication of just how advanced the spaceship in the park might be. "Well now, I'm sure nobody will miss a few trees. Perhaps you would agree to a more controlled demonstration of your ship's capabilities at some point?" he rubbed his hands together eagerly. He had never expected to encounter a ship as advanced as the Liberator, but this place seemed full of extraordinary alien technologies.
