Animal shelter [forward-dated to Saturday, OTA]

The day of the adoption clinic began with rain. Tristan sprinted through the streets of the village, crossing the quick path between hotel and animal shelter with his overcoat held over his head. If this were a proper magic village, he thought, there'd be free umbrellas for all and he wouldn't have had to ruin his only coat. Perhaps the skies would grow clearer as the day wore on.

He stood right at the entrance to the building, removed his coat and shook off most the water, a cacophony greeting him when he ducked inside. The animals seemed more energetic today, probably noticing the increased amount of activity about the shelter and the unsettled atmosphere thanks to the rain. "Right, ladies and gents!" he announced merrily, beaming at the furred and scaled and feathered companions-to-be. "Best foot forward, whether they be paws or wings or what-have-you. Please be on your best behavior. Yes, Widget, even you," he added, raising an eyebrow at the harlequin Great Dane who'd 'adopted' him on his first day at work.

Now if he could simply find the ledger where he'd kept all the appointments, he'd be ready. It'd turn up sooner or later, wouldn't it? Things just don't disappear right out from under people's noses, unless there was magic involved.

Ah, well. Best to remember that things are never quite as bad as they seemed.

[ooc: tag tristan or treat as a gathering post. slowtime for me until Friday evening]
