Arrive and Mingle polofthevale December 20 2007, 23:04:14 UTC
You can try and catch the hostess, but she's currently set to 'ultra-bustle'.

"Alright, well, what is it?" She says as she settles back into her chair beside him, curious and sort of prepared for it to be something completely ridiculous.

"It's a brooch shaped like a rose. That's not so bad but it's life size--this big--and is so heavy only a lady troll, if there is such a thing, could wear it." Someone gave this to me and I think they were being funny. "I don't like big jewels and am not accustomed to seeing them. This is just too much of everything."

"Yeah, I'll stick with the necklace. It's heavy enough for me." She said with a laugh. Some of the things he described were just crazy. That's part of the reason why she enjoyed his company though.

"The necklace I like. The leaves and flowers make it seem Elven to me." I grin. "But I can't imagine I'd ever wear it and I already gave Sophie something."

That was a much smaller brooch.

"It's odd still to have women as friends but I am getting used to it."

"No, I think it'd be a little odd for you to wear it. Anyways, it's appreciated." She said, running her finger over the detail softly. "Am I your first girl friend?" She made sure to keep the last two words separate. She didn't want to offend Sophie or anything with a slip.

"No. There were others I was friendly with, including my first actual girlfriend, but the first woman I knew to be a friend was Sookie." I hope she is well. "That was on the island before the village. I only knew her a few months before she disappeared but she was very kind. And strong."

"Oh, the island. I forgot about that." She figured it must have been so weird going from one crazy place to another. She couldn't imagine going through it all and still being sane. Then again, that's what makes him Faramir and such a good friend to have. He's stable and wise.

"In not too long I'll have been gone a year. I did not have much to leave behind and things are vastly better here. Two Christmases there and I did not celebrate. This is so much better." I smile. "Duchess Polgara's kitchen is more like my home than most places. I'd eat here more often but I wished to regain weight in muscle and not just get fat."

It is like home and I am so pleased that this party is here.

"I never celebrated Christmas before. Or Thanksgiving, though my lady and I just went out together. The fourth of July. There have been new things. Even with the bad it's still more like home here."

"Good. I'm happy you're here, Faramir." She said with a sincere smile. She was getting mushy again. This place is so weird.

That's an odd sort of look. Well, from what I've come to know of Rachel.

"Have you many friends here? Surely you know many people by now."

"Yeah, but not many that I'm close to. I mean, you know it takes me awhile to get to that stuff." He's become like Mouth to her. The voice of reason, the wise one here.

"It takes me a while as well. I never had many friends at home." I have so many here. "And I have advantages that you don't have."

Long Sight, specifically, though years as a commander makes it easier to know what people are like as well.

"It takes time to trust people, but you also have at least one friend here who will stand with you if there is a problem." I smile. "And he has some rather frightening-seeming friends of his own."

"And I would do the same for you." She said with a nod and a smile. "I going to go grab some food. I haven't eaten all day for this dress. You want anything?" She can't help it. The table of food is right there and she's starving.

"No, I don't need anything right now but you should eat. The dress is very nice but so is food every day." Fasting all day for a dress? I've never heard of such a thing. "Enjoy yourself and have a happy Christmas, Rachel."

I give her a quick kiss on the cheek, since a shoulder clasp would be awkward right now. Time for each in turn, I suppose.

"I know." She said with a silly hand gesture. She usually wasn't one to do such, but whatever. "You too." And with that, she went to go pig out.
