When Alice walked into Rangeman, she noticed that Riley was re-dressing a wound on his lower arm. She surveyed him quietly with her eyes. He'd been fighting again and it was starting to get hard to tell who was winning. Instead of walking by him, she approached the front desk where he was currently sitting.
"When I told you to check out the Underground, I didn't mean you had to fight there."
Riley finished his dressing and taped it in place. His body had a soft ache to it, but if he had to be honest, it was an ache he enjoyed. It meant he was able to accomplish something and at least his opponents had the same ache too. "I know. But I thought I'd blend in better this way."
Alice wasn't buying the excuse. Riley had a certain recklessness about him lately she wasn't too fond of. She'd never admit to being concerned, but she was. "Still nothing?" She meant the recon.
"Nothing." He shook his head. "Wesker isn't hanging out there, at least. Had a report or two he was seen around the village though. If I were to guess, I'd say he was probably going to slowly integrate himself back into the population and see how it goes."
Alice's lips pressed together tight. She'd be damned if that happened. "If anyone needs me, I'll be upstairs."
Riley nodded and watched as Alice climbed the stairs to the second floor. He turned to his paperwork, though the door to Rangeman was propped wide open.
