man of a different face (closed to John, Wash, and Zoe)

Jan 21, 2012 17:28

All day at work (solidarity with John on the weekends, and she didn't mind) the only thing Erica can think of for dinner is some kind of marinated chicken breasts with fingerling potatoes and green beans. Maybe a honey glaze. She just knows its what she wants, but it requires a trip to the grocery store, being out of frozen chicken.

By the time work is done for the day, it's warm enough that she's sure she won't fall on her ass walking, though after growing up and living in New York, she's fairly certain being able to navigate icy conditions is a born ability. That doesn't mean she forgoes holding onto John though, bundled up in a scarf and coat as they head to the store.

Zoe and Wash, meanwhile, have only been at work for a few hours. Neither one of them have navigated icy paths in a long while, and with her just a couple weeks away from having the baby, the last thing she needed to do was slip and fall. So, they'd waited until it warmed up enough that the mess on the ground was just slush, then walked slowly, bundled up and hand in hand to the store.

They're at the front together now, trying to arrange a display when Zoe's stomach knocks down their progress and she laughs, tossing a box of pasta at him playfully when he laughs too. She doesn't even see the chief and his wife walk in, she's so busy goofing with her husband.

Erica sees Wash though, and the smile drops from her face as she refuses to move just inside the doors. Her hand instinctively goes to her hip, to her gun, even as images of her old partner play in her head. He'd been this normal, joking around with her, long stake outs with coffee and terrible fast food as she poured her heart out to him about her divorce, about Tyler. Her heart slams in her chest and she just stares.

(OOC: alright! Tag order John, Wash, Zoe/Erica.)
