I almost posted this on WBIR.com, but I refrained.  I couldn't just delete it, though, so here we go with my random thoughts on the issue!( My thoughts )

Thumbs up - coming from someone that knows people that died in the Towers that day, also knew many of the first responders/pd that responded that day.

The people who do practice a radical, distorted version of Islam that advocates terrorism want to promote the notion that America is at war with all Muslims, with the religion itself. Radical Americans who want to deny all Muslims the right to worship openly (most of these activist don't want mosques anywhere, not just at Ground Zero) are just giving the terrorists more fuel for this argument. Creating the perception of a war between Christianity and Islam is a really, really bad idea for both religions. The proposed cultural center isn't really at ground zero, and several Christan churches are much closer-- as is an off-track betting parlor. Terrorists aren't going to be hatching schemes at a cultural center anyhow-- unless they're complete idiots and want to get caught.
