1.o3 Dead in the Water
Dean: All right if you're goin' to be talking now, this is a very important phrase, so I want you to repeat it back to me one more time.
Lucas: Zeppelin Rules!
Dean: That's right, up high.
I'm pretty sure this is the first Zeppelin reference on the show. And I'm just so glad it is because besides it tells a great truth, I think it also is one of the most representative quotes on Supernatural ever. Or maybe that's just me.

1.11 Scarecrow

Dean: Hi, my name’s John Bonham.
Scotty: Isn’t that the drummer for Led Zeppelin?
John Bonham was easily one of the most amazing drummers ever. He's described as "the perfect model for all hard rock drummers that have followed him" and that's a fact. I was so happy when Dean used this alias because... Come on, it's Bonzo's name!! I had my moment of glee with this scene and honestly, it never gets old.
Anyway, Led Zeppelin split up after John's death and even when it was sad, I'm glad they didn't try to replace him. Recently Zeppelin had a reunion with his son, Jason Bonham, on the drums which was, I think, an awesome detail.

2.o2 Everybody Loves a Clown

Jo: Most hunters come through that door think they can get in my pants with some... pizza, a six pack, and side one of Zeppelin IV.
I know this is a quote from the movie Fast Times in Ridgemont High and honestly it's kind of hilarious but when you think about it...well, it might tell the truth. I mean, Side One of Zeppelin IV includes Black Dog, Rock and Roll, The Battle of Evermore and Stairway to Heaven so if you want to make out with someone it's a pretty good selection. Really!
Also, I know everybody and their mothers are OMG!! Stairway to Heaven!! *hearts*. Or maybe not. Well, I'm gonna say it now. Yes, it is a great and awesome and wonderful song. No, I don't think it is the best Zeppelin tune. Led Zeppelin has way better songs but like I said, that's just my opinion.
Anyway, Side One of Zeppelin IV? TOO AWESOME FOR WORDS!!

2.13 Houses of the Holy

According to this. while being on the Magic Fingers, Dean was listening to Kashmir. I know he wasn't but anyway, I think that was a great musical selection for that specific moment.
Kashmir is an awesome song, it's included in the Physical Grafitti and all four band members have agreed that it is to date one of their best musical achievements and I totally agree! As Plant explained to rock journalist Cameron Crowe:
The whole inspiration came from the fact that the road went on and on and on. It was a single-track road which neatly cut through the desert. Two miles to the East and West were ridges of sandrock. It basically looked like you were driving down a channel, this dilapidated road, and there was seemingly no end to it. 'Oh, let the sun beat down upon my face, stars to fill my dreams...' It's one of my favourites...that, 'All My Love' and 'In the Light' and two or three others really were the finest moments. But 'Kashmir' in particular. It was so positive, lyrically.

3.o5 Bedtime Stories

Dean: I'm Detective Plant. This is Detective Page.
WOW! I can't really explain the huge moment of *GLEE* I had when Dean said this line. Not so much to said except that this was probably my favorite thing about this episode.

3.11 Dream a Little Dream of Me

The fact that Dean chose Robert Plant as his alias and that he's used before makes me happy. Also, it's awesome to catch this kind of details when they use them.

4. 14 Sex and Violence

Dean: Nobody's Fault But Mine.
Nick: Oh, oh, let me guess. Zeppelin recorded it in '75, It was a cover of a Blind Willie Johnson tune.
Dean: Nice.
Nick: You Shook Me.
Dean: '69, debut album, written by Willie Dixon.
Nick: And?
Dean: And what?
Nick: Written by Willie Dixon and J.B. Lenoir.
Dean: Dude! Dude!
DUDE!!!! I want to hang out with Dean if we're gonna have Zeppelin trivias + shots :D No, really!! I said it when this aired, if this is how it's gonna work, me wants! Well, I wouldn't say no to other stuff but Zeppelin trivias?! HOW COOL IS THAT? :D

4.18 The Monster at the End of This Book

Fangirl: Dean's favorite song.
Dean: It's a tie. Between Zep's "Ramble On" and "Traveling Riverside Blues."
HOW ARE YOU SO FREAKING AWESOME, DEAN WINCHESTER?! No, really! HOW?! Even though I heard you saying Ramblin' On wich is kind of WTF but anyway. Ramble On is one freaking amazing song and even when the Tolkien references make Robert Plant feel embarrassed I love it. And then you say TRAVELING RIVERSIDE BLUES!!! I died a little there. A Robert Johnson tribute more than a cover because it includes lots of references to other songs like Kind Hearted Woman Blues and Come on in my Kitchen, as well as Zeppelin's The Lemon Song. AWESOME!!!! I approve of your choices Dean Winchester *thumbs up*

Title Episodes

In my Time of Dying, it gives title to my favorite episode and the lyrics and everything actually fit the show so well. I LOVE THIS SONG, it's one of my favorite Zeppelin tunes ever.
Houses of the Holy, it's not only a song but a full album too. The song is included on Physical Grafitti and it's amazing but the album... Gosh, it's my favorite Zeppelin album actually. The eight songs are just amazing, really and the pace in that album and the lyrics and the experimentation and everything... I just need that album to live. Seriously.
What is and What Should Never Be. How amazing was that episode? Well, the song is just as amazing. Also, I'm pretty sure Kripke was proud because the first episode he directed in the show was named after a Zeppelin song.
[I know there's an upcoming episode also named after a HUGE AND GLORIOUS Zeppelin tune but I won't say it because I think some people consider that a spoiler. But really, the moment I found out I screamed with joy, I'm telling you: GLORIOUS!]
When the Levee Breaks, it's not a spoiler anymore, like I said I was incredibly pleased when I found out about this but also, kind of deppressed because dude, have you read the lyrics? Yeah, I know the song talks about a real flood that happened in 1929 because this song, like many others, is a cover (the original was recorded by Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie and you can listen to it here). Anyway, going back to the lyrics, they way the fit for the current situation between Sam and Dean, OMG! IT HURTS LIKE HELL. I just.. I have no words.
Also, No Rest for the Wicked was originally titled No Quarter. When I found out about that I was so mad they changed it because that song IS Supernatural. Really, just read the lyrics. That song IS the show and it fit that particular episode so much.

Eric Kripke + Led Zeppelin = OTP!

(Kripke) sees himself as a sort of School of Rock missionary. Sadly, the gospel according to Zeppelin won't be preached since the group won't sell their songs for under a billion dollars. "That's a rough estimate," Kripke adds.
Other dream songs and bands on Kripke's list are Traveling Riverside Blues, Ramble On...
Damn!! I wish they could use Zeppelin songs on the show. I'm still hoping the will be able to do it. It might sound cheesy but they could end the series with the boys driving into the horizon with, I don't know, Going to California in the background or something.
So yeah, at least they're using Led Zeppelin when they can and in totally original ways, so I'm happy Kripke can pay tribute to the most awesome band in the world.

Really, I'm telling you this: Led Zeppelin/Supernatural could be the real OTP for me.
Don't hotlink please!
