Poor Latvia! (Stay true to your freakin' treaties, Russia...) The USSR (and others!) did some seriously nasty things, the more I learn the more about this time period the frightening it seems.

I like the poetic writing style you used here, and the way you portrayed the history. I think I might have gotten a little lost at times without the footnotes; they were very handy. Lovely fic!
