Hooray! I'm gathering quite a collection of shiny internets.
What can I say? I love tragic stories.
Ah. That's what we call 'vehement denial' - it's a defense/coping mechanism. Yuugi doesn't want to admit that he's afraid of something, so he tries to cover it up by saying he hates it, that he's more angry than he is scared.
Re: Bathtub: Got it in one.
*laughs* Becasue I so, so have it? But yeah, there's something I'm worried people might misinterpret about the ending, regarding "Yami," but... oh well. Surprisingly, panic attacks are really fun to write. And now I feel like a bitch. Whoops?
Omg...wow! What a way to start the morning, thats the best valentines treat I'll get all day! Because nothing beats puzzleshipping, not even chocolate! unless its shared between Yugi and Yami xD
Somehow I hadn't expected it to end that way, and its kinda sad but I couldn't think of a better way to end it! I thought the whole time he would think of a way to pull the nameless man out and you have Yugi go in! And die D: Somehow I feel bad for Yami...and Yugi of course lol Honda is oblivious to all of this, poor him.
It was amazing! I'm again reminded why I squee when I see "killyoudead-fanfic!"
Heh, thanks! I've been sitting on this story for a couple weeks, actually, because I thought, "hey, holiday about love. Let's publish a story where people die! yes!"
*nods* This story was trying to go against cliche-creature-fics on two counts: One, there's more to mythology than vampires, werewolves, and merfolk; and two, sometimes love CAN'T overcome the natural tendencies of life. Even if it wasn't intentional.
Err, I mean... I LOVED IT!! *worships you even more* By far the most tragic Puzzleshipping fic I've read! Thank you for making my dull Valentine's Day a lot brighter with darkness! *snuggles you forever for it*
Also - hey, you're a new face around these parts. *excited* If you're a fan of puzzleshipping, and if you haven't already, I'm going to, erm, recommend you read my other stories on the subject! I'm told they're also very good. Sight the King is a... very, very long "epic" that breaks off from canon rather early on, and also features death. Separate Cups is a... sad but not necessarily depressing oneshot that's pretty much just delicious fanservice, and Victory isn't actually Puzzleshipping, but is still pretty dark and is pretty much about how Bakura Ruins the World Forever.
... *laughs* Apparently, light-and-fluffy isn't my style!
edit: ... of course, now I'll feel really bad and/or silly if I discover this is simply another case of "oops, wrong journal," but oh well.
*happiness* I love hearing that people are recommending my stuff to their friends. It's very cool. And again, I'm very glad you enjoyed it! Let me know if you get around to any of the others.
Nothing beats a dark fic just in time for Valentine's Day. XD *morbid*
But anyway! That was really lovely--a new take from those cliché ones and, oh, thank goodness, it's not about vampires or mermaids. ~__~ Other than that...I don't think I can say much else. I'm still in somewhat of an aftershock of Yuugi's death (and the kiss! and all his panic attacks!) and...guuuuuuuuuuuuh. ♥
Heehee! I thought about putting it out sooner, but yes, you hit the reason.
(on the pit, I don't think I left *any* warning that the story was going to be dark - and, actually, I think I implied it was going to be somewhat happy. Whoops?)
Thanks! That's the, erm, whole reason I was inspired to write it. Do fic writers these days not read mythology or folklore anymore?
♥ I'm glad you liked it, even though the protagonist dies.
[also on the pit, half the reviews have to ask if he died. And there were at least two story alerts. Um.]
