How long is this going to keep up?

[Kaoru crumpled up one of the empty wrappers of junk food, glancing at the dwindling supplies again. They would really have to start stretching it. His stomach growled just thinking about it.]

I don't know if we can make another run on the food, I think they're onto us... or we just have rotten luck.

[The kid's bat at his side was not very sturdy for beating back monsters. He had grabbed it from one of the carnival 'prize' areas to fight off the freakish dogs on day one. The first one got thrown in an attempt at getting them to 'fetch'.]

[Kaito sighed at their dismal pile of remaining foodstuff.]

I can go when we're down to our last pack.

[The magician stretched out on their makeshift bed of carnival stuffed animals. Arms tucked behind his head, single flashlight on. As agreed upon, they kept only one light on at a time during night time to conserve batteries. They were also down to their last flashlight.]

Even if we don't run out of food, we'll have to scavenge for batteries for these things. I don't want to spend a night without light while those things are still out there.

We're down to our last pair of batteries already... aren't we?

[Kaoru rested his chin on his hand, watching where the light from the flashlight bounced off the mirrors around them. He had to admit, Kaito was pretty smart when it came to using all those mirrors.]

I'll go with you.

[Doing things in groups seemed smart, having someone who could watch your back. Kaoru was feeling very out of place and 'alone' without Hikaru always around. He knew he could rely on Hikaru, but in the past, he was sure he could only rely on his brother. Now he had to rely on others. People he didn't even really know.]

If those things show up, they might sneak up on you while you're busy or your hands are full.

[Kaito made a face at the prospect, but shook his head.]

One person getting caught is better than two.

[His eyes flickered discretely to their other member.]

We'll be split up regardless... it makes more sense to have more people be where it's safe than more out there.

There may have been supplies in the food stall I was stuck in. I was too paniced at the time to check thoroughly.

[Kaoru wasn't usually one to give up on something so easily, but he was already out of sorts, adjusting to being... Kaoru, and not Kaoru and Hikaru. Shrugging as though he didn't actually care, he looked over to their third person.]

I guess someone has to guard the 'base' or there would be nowhere to bring food back to.

Don't worry, it'll be fine.

[Kaito looked at their meager stock and opened another bag of chips. Three days on junk food, and who knew how many more they had to go on. He checked the expiry date under the dim reflected lighting before putting any into his mouht.]

We still have some food to go, and if there really are any in the food stall, then that's just a few steps outside.

[He gave Phoenix a nod of acknowledgment.]

Good thing you were hiding in a food stall before.

If we do decide to investigate, do we have anything we can use as weapons in case we run into to monsters again? I see we have a bat.
