There's a new puzzle posted. It's called The_One. When you click on it, it has a link to a livejournal entry. No idea what it means yet.

Could the answer be a username in LJ? Maybe somebody who has the interests of hypnosis and marxism? Does anybody know LJ well enough to know if this is easily searched? I'm pretty unfamiliar with it... hence my not even having an ID. :)

Maybe we should list all of the potential keywords and search systematically. It's not useful for everyone to be repeating the same searches.

The One (may or may not need to be included)
cat
cat's name (unspecified)
new girlfriend
neutered
laundry detergent (German laundry detergent?)
lost insurance
the ball
hypnosis tape

I'm not sure that that's everything and it's possible that not all of those are good words, but maybe a combination of two or three of these things will lead somewhere.

Also, why is the icon a peacock? The pictures for these puzzles have had some strange titles.

Okay, I think I found the connection *thanks to prompting from Mousy?*

These are the titles of episodes of Friends, which always began with "The One..."

So we have:

The One with the Cat
The One with Ross's New Girlfriend
The One with the East German Laundry Detergent
The One where Joey Loses His Insurance
The One with the Ball
The One with the Hypnosis Tape

Anybody else find any others? Any ideas how this leads us to the password?

I don't know if this matters or not, but there's also an episode titled "The One With Joey's New Girlfriend" in a later season.

Any Friends junkies out there know of some connection between all of these episodes?

Okay remaining questions:

I haven't been able to find anything definitively relevant for 'neutered' and the cat's name thing is kind of up in the air for me.

Also, is there any relation to the peacock/'bird' pic?

And why 'mellon6'?

If you can't find anything for "neutered," then maybe it's not relevant. I think you're right that the "R" thing was there to make sure we had the right "New Girlfriend" episode. That makes sense. We have six episodes already; that should be enough to start working on to see if we missed any. We have to get a password out of this. A mouse up there said the other puzzles gave us letters for the password. How do we get letters out of these Friends episodes? I think the hard part is over! At least we have a starting point now.
