Hi, I'm Emma, and my friend and I were having a discussion a little while ago about miniseries we'd seen on television and I remembered this one that I couldn't remember the name of. It was about a girl who travels out of New York City into another world with her father, and they meet a dog who is really the Prince, and they set out to take down

Yup, The 10th Kingdom. I own the DVD - I thought it was really cute (I couldn't stop laughing at the Trolls with their boombox blaring "Night Fever"!)

It's got John Larroquete, Dianne Wiest (she's really good at playing eveil characters) & Rutger Hauer in it, among others. Oh, andScott Cohen made a nummy werewolf too, arrooo!

Yes, definitely 10th Kingdom. I love that miniseries, one of my all-time favorite things to watch, I was actually going to post about it at some point. (Should I still? *laughs* This community seems to encourage more lengthy "conversion" posts even if it has already been briefly mentioned in a previous post.. and I do really want people who haven't already to check it out.)

Well everyone beat me to it, but I will just add, you can usually buy the dvd for like $5 at any major dvd selling place, so go and buy it!

I remember watching it on tv as a child, that and oh what was the one with atreyu... oh the never ending story, those two always go hand and hand in my mind for some reason.

And then the rock family in the never ending story always makes me think of dinosaurs... no idea...

and then dinosaurs makes me think of... ok I will stop for now.

lol i posted about that one on an earler part of this thread but i got the name wrong

wasn't there suposed to be a sequel (they hinted at it at the end)

also the monkey king / the lost empire mini series staring tommas gibson (dharma and greg, criminal minds) and Bai Ling(she plaied the trans later for the asian dirctor that on enturage) based on the stories of the monkey king which were in turn based on the life of the munk who brought budisum to asia

"Journy to the west" as the collected tales are sometimes called was also the basis for the original dragon ball (if you've read the monkey king stories you can figure out exactly who each charicter is dased on)as well as the short Lived "Monkey Magic"
