Fandom Friending Meme

Oct 25, 2007 15:27

Since we've got so many members and it's been a bit quiet lately, I thought it was time for a friending meme. Just remove the space between ' / and b' to get it to bold. "Fandoms" doesn't have to be 'things you're obsessed with' or 'things you create stuff for', it can just be the things you enjoy and like, and want to talk about.

:D YAY! A Fregg fan. :D Do you write about them? And the actors, fanfic wise, or characters they play? Or are you just a fan of the two of them in general? I'm a fan of the two of them in general, and then I like fanfics about their characters.

Them in general. I almost decided to be Shaun for Halloween, but I didn't want to cut my hair. So I'm just going to be a generic zombie.

I've started one Simon/Nick story (I'm a serious fan of the RPS), but I haven't touched it in a while, sadly. I did manage to convert my beta reader to Fregg the other day, and she's already done a fic of her own XD

I even draw them as furries lol

lol well I'm not so keen on the furries or rps, but they're one of the rare real life people who I think are totally totally cute together and don't *mind* reading rps on.

Same for you, doll. ^_^

Other things... Well, authors Neil Gaiman, Douglas Adams, Megan Whalen Turner. Various comedies, such as Black Books, The Young Ones (those were both your doing, actually!), The IT Crowd, Nathan Barley, and so forth. Comedians such as Ross Noble, Russell Brand, Bill Bailey, Dylan Moran. Doctor Who.

When I do these friending memes, I can never think of everything I love off hand, so I just put the ones that come to mind at that very moment.

Very cool. As this group is primarily about rare/non-existent fandoms, I've cut some of the more popular things from my list. Other than that, I'm definitely taking your words to heart up there. Lots of these are things I've never written for, but I'd love to talk about them.

Fandoms: Roger Zelazny's Amber series, 21 Jump Street, Keen Eddie, Justice (legal TV show that ran for a little under a season), Injustice (another leagal TV show that was far too short-lived for my liking), Fastlane, The Young Astronauts book series.
Fav. Characters/Pairings: Amber: Random, Julian, and Merlin have long been my favorite characters. Also pretty fascinated by the minor character Mandor. 21 Jump Street: I admit it, I watched primarily because of Johnny Depp. Tom & Doug were my favorites, and also my pairing of choice. Keen Eddie: I adored Pippin. Justice: I loved them all, it was a great ensemble cast. Injustice: Conti and Brianna were my favorites. Fastlane: Loved both of the guys and really Billie too. What are your novels about?

The only things I ever finish are fanfictions, sadly.

The three in the editing process are a trilogy of vampire novels with a mystery element to them. My MC is a woman who is an expert in art history who works with the FBI on recovering stolen art and museum quality artifacts (something which the international has really been urging the US to create a dedicated unit to do for decades. We're the only country with a major art dealer community that doesn't have a specialized team for art recovery, so I made one up). In the first book, one of her prime suspects is a very rich man who she sort of knows from the art world. What she doesn't know about him is that he's a vampire, and the stolen items in question link back to an ancient prophecy about vampires.

I wrote fanfic for a long time, before I ever even thought of trying something original. Now I've kind of got the writing bug.

Age: 15
Location: The middle of nowhere, England.
Fandoms: Primary X-Men Movieverse, but also Grim Fandango, Of Mice and Men, and Mock the Week dabbling.
Fav. Characters/Pairings: I'm very into Cyclops and Professor X with resulting likes in Scott/Jean, Erik/Xavier and Scott/Logan, and for Grim Fandango I really like writing Chowchilla Charlie, because he amuses me. In Of Mice and Men, I somehow chose to write about Curley who is, in fact, more of a plot point than a character and will never come up in an essay, which means it sucks to be me.
Major Non-fandom Interests: Performing arts, rowing, sewing and Scouts.
My LJ Contains Mostly: Teen angst, fanfic, X-Men nerdiness and yet more teen angst!
Other: I'm on the NaNoWriMo train next month (2nd time, won last year with an atrocious novel that shouldn't see the light of day), and hence may not be as active as usual. I plan to lecture in an university when I'm older, my English teacher is under the very mistaken belief that I'm a ( ... )

Oh, it's embarrasing. my English teacher doesn't understand how to use E-Mail, and when trying to get to an attachment, accidentally clicked on a link to a sister's FF7 website. The top banner always has a quote on it from one of her short films, and in this case it was 'Hi, I'm Cloud, a necrophliac from Nibelheim' or something of that ilk. She hasn't been able to look me in the eye since, despite my explanation.

I don't know what kind of short films she thinks are on there, but still...

I've been hearing about Black Books all of a sudden lately. I stuck it on my NF, cause my curiosity is getting the best of me on this one.

Black Books is really good. :D I might make a post about it sometime soon. Not today though, I've made enough entries today. Remind me if i don't do it. :)
