I first came across fanfiction a few months ago when I was going through some terrible times. I had more things happen to me in a span of 2 months than my entire life. My world was spinning out of control. I felt like I was on a never ending dive through heartache, grief, loss, pain...you name it I was feeling it. Reading the fanfiction took me out of reality and into a world of pure imagination. I would spend hours reading anything and everything I could get my hands on. It was a therapy of sorts.
These stories began to ground me. As my life began to take shape once again I stopped just being a spectator and started commenting on the amazing pieces of art I was reading. I never expected a simple comment on a story that I was so taken back by (it was just genius) would lead me to an incredible friendship. I took a chance and offered my personal take on someone else's vision and in return I was given a wonderful gift.
I started talking to Carly about her story but quickly discovered we had so much in common and truly related to one another in both writing styles, experiences and emotions. I could see so much of myself in her which made our fast friendship possible. Instantly we had a bond and shortly an understanding. We had reached a comfort level to fear nothing, to share our stories, our ideas with one another without the chance of judgment. It is truly a gift.
I have Carly to thank for showing me this website, where for the first time I can not only post fanfiction pieces for comments but I can also post other things I have worked on over the years. Carly gave me the membership to this site out of the kindness of her heart. She is a giving person, and understanding person, and a caring person. I really appreciate all the help and editing I am given in both my writing and personal life. Carly even took it one step farther and spent hours of her own time setting up my journal into the masterpiece it is today, which i am very grateful.
Thank you so much Carly. It truly means the world.
