 It's always awkward explaining to a friend that the new diet/exercise plan he's embarking on will probably work, but not for the reasons they advertise.

Here's a hint: if they advertise you can lose 10 lbs in one week, that's probably mostly water weight. Which is fine...just...realize that?

It's really hard on the body to lose that kind of weight if it is actually fat (and it might wind up being muscle on a bad diet plan). You shouldn't lose more than 2 lbs a week normally.

I really try to avoid those kinds of conversations. :(

But anyway, yeah, a lot of people get caught up in the pseudo-science of the diet/exercise industry and it's frustrating.
