[OTA] Some days, he wished he had chosen law school

Kutner and Foreman had been sent on the B&E of the patient's home this time, and despite being slightly irked at the fact and even more irked at Chase's presence in the differential, he had just gone along with it. Even though House was - as always - firmly lodged in Denial Land, everyone knew something was wrong. It was like a gorilla had lumbered ( Read more... )

Cameron came up beside Foreman in the labs and rest her hand on the bench nearby him. "You look how I feel," she offered with a wry smile. She had bumped into Kutner a few minutes before, who mentioned he had been on a break and enter of the patient's home with Foreman. A tweak of nostalgia had made itself known in her gut and she figured she might drop by to see how the case was going. If rumours were true, apparently House had been acting strangely... and Chase had been spotted hovering around Diagnostics more than he had done in the whole time he was fired. It was weird, and she was curious. "I hear things aren't going so smoothly."

Foreman glanced up at her with a slight smirk. "Are you here to ask after my professional welfare, or just suddenly feeling lonesome out there out of the loop with rumours Chase is sniffing around in House's territory?" he asked knowingly and rested his elbow on the lab bench. "When do things ever go smoothly with a new case? I don't think it's anything you need to worry about," he added pointedly.

Cameron's face fell into an irritated frown. "Chase has never shown any interest in sniffing around House's territory before," she reasoned. "At least, not since House fired him. Is he going to go back on the team? Is House firing one of the newbies? It just doesn't make any sense, and it's not like the case you have is anything out of the ordinary, is it? I heard it's not a referral from Surgical, so why is Chase there?"

"What does it matter to you if Chase is there or not?" Foreman asked her pointedly. "Have you two even been in the same room together for more than thirty seconds since you split? Maybe House just thinks he's more interesting than a pot plant? I disagree, but I'm not calling the shots, am I? Are you pissed because it's Chase or pissed because it's not you?"
