Just had to share....
A guy's priest, when pressed for an answer to a scientific question, basically said "well, we don't know, there's no binding teaching on this, but I guess it could be synthisized into evolution by X."
The guy offered this theory to his protestant friends.
The teens laughted.
He converted.

Interesting. Not one of the finer moments.
I have several mature Protestant friends who have converted from Catholicism because they sought and found a more direct relationship Jesus than they had before. They sought. They found. Nobody's laughter made a speck of difference to them.

By faith, I can respect.
By "I insisted on the personal opinion of one man, who, with many disclaimers that it was only a way that it might work, offered a theory, and other teenagers laughed when I told them what he said. So clearly their religion is better, and I still believe it when I am twice the age I was" I cannot respect.
Choosing your Church by what your heart says makes sense; choosing it by who has good arguments makes sense.
Choosing it because your friends laughed at a private theory of someone in your old faith is just silly... may as well choose by which has the prettier sign out front.
