A while ago darkravenwrote posted the question if you would be interested in a community that archived old prompts from fests and will give folks the opportunity to drop prompts for claiming. The tenor was that this was a good idea - so here is the next step, and since she is already busy coming up with lists and spreadsheets, I am trying to do a tiny part as ( Read more... )

I have a question. ^^

Are you planning to archive all the prompts of an X fest or the original prompter would have to re-prompt them?

Because maybe a prompter wants to "save" a prompt for another fest that might also fit, you know?

I guess I'm wondering if your idea is something like, "Here are the prompts from X, Y, Z fests, help yourself," or rather, "Prompters, please re prompt your prompts from X, Y, Z fests."

Sorry. I don't even know if I'm being clear. I hope so! :D And sorry if this was answered already. I don't always hang out here, and clearly, I should. Lol

you are very clear - which is why we want to work together with festmods and integrate a tiny part into the prompting post - I am ok with my prompt being archived at "name of the nes comm" if a prompter says NO then of course we won´t do that, but so we can be clear if people want their prompt posted only at that specific fest :)

and our idea is like, if a writer has a writers block he could come to the community and be like - oh I would like a prompt for H/D or Snarry or Harry/Ginny and maybe for a creature and then a list of prompts would come up. If a name of the prompter his available we would encourage writers to say - "hey I am using your prompt" once they are done.

*nods* I get it. :)

It sounds like a cool idea to help writers who are having a block.

Maybe it would be a good idea to leave original prompts, too though. I mean, sometimes when a writer is having a writers block, they aren't always looking for to start a whole new fic, but maybe a prompt that suggests a scene or a moment would be helpful too. :D

It's a great idea though. Thank you for explaining to me. <3

as soon as we are up and running we will allow original prompts as well :) and I don´t think we´ll do a strict word count like - min 1000 words that can be too much sometimes.

I'd often thought of doing this for fests when there were just so, so many lovely-yet-unclaimed prompts, but never actually had the time or initiative to plan it out by myself. Yay for you guys! This is going to be awesome. :D If you do need any help with the organizing, let me know (though darkravenwrote sounds like someone after my own heart with the lists and the spreadsheets, haha X3).

Yay! This will be wonderful, I'm sure of it. :3

are you mostly in H/D? otherwise please spred the word to other comms as well :)

Predominantly H/D, but I poke into a few other comms as well that are multi-pairing or for some other specific pairings. I'll drop a line to those mods to see if I can spread the word. :)

WAIT NO I DID IT WRONG. (If it shows you who votes for what, can you just pretend that I put my vote in the "ones I really like" category, omg. ;_; )

I'm a bit dissapointed when I see that hp_promptarchive is winning T_T I know that it's clean and concise but I like wishing well better coz, yeah well, people dream... Am I making sense here? But whatever it is the name will be, I think the idea is great ^^

aww I know - because wishing well is so cute right? You drop a prompt in and hopefully something beautiful happens - but I think we´ll listen to the people :) until the end of the week and then we´ll know more :)
