We've had quite a few inquiries so I thought I would state this unequivocally -

The hd_worldcup has had two amazing rounds with some of the best Harry/Draco works ever produced

Awww, that sucks b/c the worldcup was one of the better fests for H & D. There aren't that many H & D fests so not sure why you're saying there's "plenty of fests."

There are some amazing fests that either feature a lot of H/D or will feature a lot of H/D like hd_holidays, hd_career_fair, hd_500, hd_smoochfest, hd_parallel, hds_beltane, hp_spring_fling, hp_kinkfest, hpvalensmut and slashfest.

Those are the ones that I know of off the top of my head. I definitely urge you to check some of them out to get your fix of Harry/Draco. I appreciate your sentiments.

I do understand these sentiments as well, because it has been announced that hd_career_fair was a one-off event, and now hd_worldcup won't come back either, which is a shame, bcause they were both great H/D fests, and they mostly focused on more 'mainstream' subjects, unlike e.g. dark_fest, or kink_fest, etc. Not that there is anything wrong with those(!), but they're not for everyone. But you're right: there are still a lot of fests left. We definitely can't complain.

I'm so sad to hear this! I'm relatively new to fandom and was really looking forward to this (not meant to guilt you at all--just wanted to let you know that, as a newbie, I was excited).

I am wondering why you won't (or if you would) consider letting someone else run it. I know there would be a *lot* interest, despite all the other lovely fests.

I'll definitely be checking out the archives!

As stated above, I will not consider letting someone else run it. There are a variety of other fests out there that deserve a chance to shine.

It's sad to see it go, but I understand the reasons behind it. Thanks so much for all your (and the rest of the mod team's) hard work and dedication - h/d fandom appreciates it! :)

Whatever your reasons, it's your right, and I respect that. You've given H/D fen a great deal, so thank you for your investment of time, energy and all the other things it took to run such a complicated fest. And you're right, some of my favorite H/D fic and art came out of the Cups. Good luck to you, in whatever you choose to pursue, Wook!
