This was very heartbreaking. I know the character deaths didn't happen to canon characters, but it still saddened me greatly because of who and what they were to Harry and Draco. Despite the warning, I kept wishing that they wouldn't die, that they would be good friends and could move past their hatred while their fathers also reconciled and eventually found love together. When it didn't happen, I felt heartbroken ( ... )

Tragedy, I believe, truly does give people a second chance to re-evaluate their prejudices, especially the ones that contributed to the tragedy. And often, families who've not spoken to each other for years do reconcile when a loved one dies. It did take Harry and Draco over two years to become entirely comfortable with each other, as you said. As for the deaths, well, I know what you mean, but not all stories in life are happy ones, but hopefully, as I tried to do here, some good came from them.

I'm glad you liked the title; thanks for reading and for your thoughtful comments.

What a sorrowful and heartbreaking story. I had trouble continuingit when I realised who was going to die.

As wonderful as the story was, and the calming ending - I want to highly recommend there be an addition to the 'warning' line. Despite the character deaths being OC's, there really should be a warning that they're children - deaths of adult OC's are sometimes easier to accept than those of children - and as elegantly as you've portrayed it all, being blindsided by this madeit very difficult for meto keep my promisetomyself to read all the fics in the fest - knowing ahead of time would have been nice.

So... I'm saying itin acomment, just in case I can save someone else from the same blindsidedness....

twas a wonderful story, though - the pacing was done just right, and the ending was both inevitable and comforting. Well done!

I did try to make it evident in the story that the girls were on a collision course, because of and in spite of anything their fathers tried. Although I appreciate your suggestion to alter the warning, I'm going to let the current one stand. Giving a character death warning, then naming the characters, reveals too much of the story and decreases the impact of the deaths on my protagonists; this impact on Harry and Draco was a crux point of my story.

Thanks for continuing to read and for your comment; I'm glad you found a little bit of redemption in the comfort of the ending, and Harry and Draco's happiness.

UM. Yeah...so I am in love with this story right now. It was a bummer I had to stop half way to go to class, but after continuing to read and finish this...I am soo impressed!

I love the reference of Montague and Capulet, because Romeo and Juliet is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. You really embraced the animosity here and to really bring Harry and Draco to their senses...it just worked.

The emotions were really powerful, concrete and deep. The flashbacks and whatnot really helped put everything into context, and it was all just so real.

I really loved how this was from Harry's PoV, in first person. We don't get to see this kind of perspective often, and it really shows a true heart to heart when he interacts with Draco.

You really did a great job showing the personalities of these boys. And I loved the personalities you gave the girls, and even Dobby!

Wonderful job, Captain! =D

I'm so glad you liked it; it's always challenging to create original characters, and I loved bringing Dobby back! The POV, the alternating timeline are both things I like to do, on occasion, and Harry was still in my noggin from the last story, so he was the natural choice.

Thanks for reading and for the encouragement!

This was really beautiful. I was very hesitant to get into it, because frankly, I find the whole Romeo and Juliet thing to be way overdone (it just doesn’t make sense to me. Even after love is gone, there’s still others and a reason to live- but that has nothing to do with your story). This was both a wonderful twist on the traditional story AND on JKR’s story as well. I really like the style you’ve used- the internal, reflective monologue. It worked so incredibly well during your story ( ... )

Yes, not Romeo and Juliet, but Montague and Capulet, which is an entirely different sort of drama. I'm glad you liked the POV; I thought it important for it to be first person, as grief is mostly an interior thing, and chose Harry because he's more 'in my head' than Draco ( ... )

I really admire your reviews, Smirking Muse. They're always thoughtful, analytical, kind and encouraging. You really go deep into the story, think about it and then always manage to say something amazing and interesting about the fic or artwork in a nice way. Reading your comments is quite captivating.

If I'm ever able to write anything worth publishing I'd like you to be the first to review it. :)

Oh. Outstanding. Wonderful story telling, painful and true. I loved the way the Harry/Draco relationship evolved from the ashes of their shared pain and failure. I will definitely be re-reading this. Thank you for an amazing read.
