I'm a bit confused over the posting of fic. I've read the FAQ several times but to no avail. Maybe you could restate it for me.

1) are we to post indivual fic to the comm as it's written or is it to be posted once we've completed the card to our satisfaction? (linking back to our journals or websites of choice)
2)If the answer to 1) is no (and if I'm reading the FAQ correctly) we can still post the fic elsewhere in the mean time and it would not be counted as being 'previously published'?
3) what's a 'newsletter community'? (as mentioned in one of the FAQ)

1) no. you post the individual fills to your journal, or fic journal, or website, or ao3, or wherever else. when you have completed a combination, you post the links to the fills in it to the comm, using this posting template.
2) as long as you're mentioning somewhere in the post that it's for hc_bingo it perfectly answers the rules.
3) the newsletter is used here as a catch-all word for all non-challenge fandom communities. say, you've finished a story in bandom and then crossposted it to bandslashmania or any such one; it's absolutely allowed.

The entry on Body dysmorphic disorder on wiki should help you out. A very simplified explanation is that body dysmorphic disorder is where a person is focused on a percieved flaw in their body.

Is it acceptable if the 'hurt' doesn't happen/wasn't acted upon by the person being comforted? Example, if Character A is traumatized by Character B's suicide attempt and Character C comforts him. Does that still count?

Sure, as long as the fic focused on the hurt/comfort prompt who is hurt and who is recieving the comfort is up to you.

Mpreg is generally happening in a canon where male pregnancy is not the norm so for mpreg-regular it would likely be dealing with a male character getting pregnant. As long as your fill focuses on the prompt and has both the hurt/comfort elements associated with the hurt/comfort genre you should be fine. I hope that answers the question, let me know if you'd like clarification. :)

Yes, as long as the character is male and is carrying an embryo/fetus/offspring that's technically mpreg.

Suppose I have a different definition of comfort than other people... igrockspock June 12 2010, 00:14:45 UTC
First of all, thank you so much for running this challenge. Giving out all the cards and keeping up with the faq must be a huge amount of work, and I definitely appreciate it!

As I've started writing my fics, one of the things that concerns me is that I tend to favor comfort that is sort of oblique. Like, just giving the character an opportunity to tell his/her story to someone else and briefly hear that they understand feels like comfort to me. Is that enough, or would my stories be rejected?

You're welcome and thank you for the nice comment.

The interpretation of hurt/comfort can be pretty broad. The comfort is left to the participant to determine. It does not have to be absolute or 'fix' anything; if giving the character an opportunity to tell his/her story to someone else and briefly hear that they understand feels like comfort to your character, than yes, it fits the genre. You, as the creater, define comfort for your characters.
