I'm really upset about the drug culture we live in. It has become more and more evident to me over the course of my life- in middle school/high school I saw that several people began using drugs regularly, something that I had never thought (foolishly) as a younger child was something that a whole lot of people did. you hang out with mainly people who are at a time in their lives that involves a lot of experimenting with various things

I don't think our culture is as completely saturated with drug use as you say it is

Also, lots of people do drugs and are still interesting. However, I think that drugs won't make you interesting if you are a fundamentally boring person to begin with, which a lot of people who turn to drugs probably are

Our culture is certainly very inundated with drug use. Tell me otherwise once you've spent some time at college- pretty much every night of the week (at least at Pitt), the entire Oakland area is a sea of intoxicated people who simply don't know any other way to have fun.

Probably about 1 in 50 people at my school don't get drunk regularly. That's not even an exaggeration. Maybe it's just my location, but in my experience the vast majority of people I know turn to chemicals to replace fun.

yeah thats exactly my point, they're college kids, and college is a time for experimentation in many people's minds

My exact point is that "experimentation" is just a buzz word people use because it sounds more self righteous than "it's something that makes me feel good when I do it."
