A thought regarding a previous chapter, which I forgot to mention at the time: Snape's spell to heal Malfoy was almost like a song, as Harry noted. And we've been given a lot of musical clues... I expect another healing song to crop up before the end of book seven.

Harry had long since learned that bangs and smoke were more often the mark if ineptitude than expertise. YES.

Dumbledore, seriously. Don't underestimate your opponent. YOU at least should know better!

...your blood is worth more than mine. Harry's blood, which was used to bring Voldemort back.

The lake makes me think of Narcissa, and the drowning clue early on.

Visions of tentacles...

OHGODTHEINFERIOHMYGODUNDERTHEWATEROHGOD

Wow. Dumbledore and the potion. Guilt much?

Brilliant Harry. Just brilliant. Did you forget anything? ARMY OF THE DEAD MAYBE?! FALL INTO THESE SORTS OF TRAPS OFTEN, HARRY?

Also, ew. He was going to give Dumbledore water to drink which had been full of corpses. Harry, Harry. What's a nice idiot like you doing in a cold dead place like this?

I am ( ... )

Also, Bangs and Smoke would be a good name for a shop on Diagon Alley. Though I don't know what they'd sell... Er, sorry, I just liked the sound of it. Moving on. :)

JKR has won my eternal respect by dint of writing that much atmosphere into a place. It was genuinely creepy. Loved it.

"Your blood is worth more than mine." Dumbledore isn't afraid to die for Harry. Harry is now the one who has to go on and get the job done. Severus, kill me, so Draco doesn't have to, so you can go on fighting the system from within. It has to happen.

OMG they are under the Paris opera house. XD

Voldemort needs to read the Evil Overlord List and put his Horcruxes in a safety deposit box. Git.

OMG VOLDEMORT HID THIS HORCRUX IN THE DEAD MARSHES.

OMG HARRY JUST DO IT DUMBLEDORE KNOWS WHAT HE IS ABOUT.

OMG.

OMG I MUST KNOW WHAT DUMBLEDORE IS SEEING.

OMFG.

OMFG, HARRY, FIRE, YOU JACKASS. BURN THEM.

And that is why it sucks that Harry is the hero. In times of crisis, he panics and forgets what he is supposed to do. He forgets about fire, he forgot about Sirius's mirror, he causes all sorts of problems.

Was Harry even taught any fire-releasing spells? I can't remember any from the books, and I'm going to be very angry with Dumbledore if it turns out sixth-years aren't taught any. I doubt he had any matchsticks with him, too.

Huh. For me, the most disturbing part of the chapter was Harry lying to keep DD drinking the potion. I know he had to do it, but... *shiver*
