Collars!

So, a bunch of plain leather dog collars were discontinued at work. I also am in possession of a leather stamping kit, and an awesome idea came to me.

I'm going to make myself a custom collar!Basically, they're super-soft, super-comfy collars with silver buckles. And real leather, too - finding real leather is a bitch, never mind at a reasonable ( Read more... )

Don't suppose you'd want to send me an undecorated one to play around with? I can paypal you shipping costs. Though I'd like to see how dark the mahogany is compared to the black.

Why go through that effort? You can just stop by your local pet store and pick one up much faster and easier.

Because I have no car and it's much too far to walk? :P I can't always be pestering the boy to take me places. You and your logical answers. Jeez.

...and any excuse to avoid the pet store and adopt a cat is a good one. We're not impulse buyers but the urge to get a kitty or two is really starting to get to me, at least. XD

Goodwill or Salvation Army used belts.

With a little leatherworking skill you can turn a 1 dollar belt into 2 collars.

Really???

Me either but I made a pretty shoddy one back in the day. Most craft stores offer the supplies to do it. (As I recall mine may still be out on permenant loan.)

Nonetheless learning some basic leatherworking for accessories could be useful to you whatwithall the jewelerycraft.

Well, experimenting with leather still won't get me anywhere near professional quality, as these are. These are some pretty nice collars, well-sewn and tooled. I wouldn't want to make a crappy one for someone. I like quality.

Hrrm. I'd have to measure my neck. Tentative dibs on mahogany 16".

Snug-not-choking measuring tape says 14"... so I need the 16" one, yes?

I love the idea of keys to go with my earrings. :) If you have any lock/key stuff left. If not, knotwork sounds awesome.

I'm stumped on the stamping bits. I'll give it some thought then peg you an email. :)

!

This is obviously right up my alley. I imagine that a 16" black would fit me just fine.

Hrm. I'm starting to wonder if 16" is too big. I have an impressively wide neck for a girl, though. :/ Maybe I should measure . . .
