Hell? Maybe?

OK... Finally I get to update. I will put it into sections so it's easier for me... haha This is a long one so I apologise in advance.

New Years Eve/DayThe party was wicked, I got drunk, I talked absolute crap and of course I celebrated in style by making sure I could barely walk in the early hours. I didn't actually get home until around 8pm on ( Read more... )

i really hope you get to feeling better soon.

that is so awful about the dog bites. i am a huge dog lover but that really is bad. any clue what kind of dog it was?

andrew sounds like a fool. probably good idea to stay away.

I'm really not sure what dog attacked Jill. I have delivered on her area and that house always scared me. It must be a big one.

Andrew is a fool.. oh yes. lol

Thanks for the sleep wishes.. Me too!! I will let you know.. hehe xx

I'm sorry to hear about your friend Jill, but, please don't hate me for this..

. No doubt Jill will make a claim and hopefully the dog will be put down. I have since text Jill and she's in constant pain. *hugs*

I don't agree with your feelings here, hoping the dog will be put down. That's unfair to the poor dog. Yes, I know Jill got bitten severely, but the dog was protecting his/her property and Jill was "trespassing" but putting her hand in the mail slot. So no, I don't hope the dog will be put down. Sorry to say, but that's just my opinion on it.

I'm really sorry Cheri but I don't agree with that at all. Dogs unfortunately are an occupational hazard and we are trained constantly on how to deal with dogs, violence and difficult situations.

Jill has been a postwomen for over 6 years and wouldn't risk putting her hands through the letterbox especially when she knows this specific property has such a hazard.

The dog behind the door was protecting his territory - that's what they do however the owners are fully aware of their dogs behaviour because I once spoke to the customer and they should of put a guard behind the door many many months if not years ago.

As they didn't - they are responsible for Jills injuries and should pay for this. Putting the dog down would be a last resort but what if the door was to not be closed properly and the dog got out - I have absolutely no doubt that dog would attack people in that street. The street houses a large nursing home which has a good stream of guests - Their safety should be paramount.

Aaah.. a far different situation than I had thought! My apologies! I thought that maybe it was just the fact that Jill put her hand in the letter box to deliver mail and the dog acted. You're right. In this case they should have done something to protect people against their dog. If I had been told by a letter carrier that my dog had poor behaviour and was possibly dangerous, that dog would be kept away from the door, definitely. A baby gate or putting the dog in another room would be my solution.

I definitely agree that they should pay for Jill's injuries. I have never disagreed with that. I would do the same - pay for the injuries of someone if my animal had harmed them somehow.

*hugs* I'm sorry to sound uncaring of your friend. I really am not. I'm not a letter carrier so I guess I don't totally understand the dangers of dogs to them. I hope Jill gets better very soon!

No need to apologise and I happen to know that your not only a caring person but you have a lovely, warm, soft heart inside and are one of the nicest people I know. *hugs*

Jill has sent me a picture of her hand. I will upload it, though it doesn't make for good viewing unfortunately.

Most dog owners don't realise at times how bad their dogs really are and it's weird but if I was to walk past a house with a rough dog in normal "casual" clothes - it wouldn't bark but in my uniform it would go mad!! Very strange.

*hugs*

I think my jobs partly to blame... I work outdoor's... and in all weather so it's hard to get rid of a cold at times. This is the worst ever though. :(
