Rei-chan officially got her first ding.^^; It happened while I was trying to back out of a tight space with a huge honkin' SUV parked next to me. While trying to avoid the SUV I scraped a pillar on the other side.^^;;;; Oh well, better than hitting the SUV I guess. Is this the part when I'm supposed to be less afraid of driving now?o_O Cause I don' ( Read more... )

Scraping a pillar is better than dinging another car, hon - give yourself some time to get used to driving. :)

I think it's mandatory on a new car. Within a week of getting my VW -- the very first "even close to new" (former lease, actually) car I've ever owned, with a REAL CAR LOAN and all, and I was determined to keep it pristine... and promptly scraped it against a light-post or something while pulling out of a parking space in Cambridge. The scrape is still visible on the passenger's front bumper-corner.

Eh, well, you've christened the car now, truly, and it's still better than hitting someone else (or being hit!).

Parking! Parking is fiendish!! (especially in this country where both sides of the road are generally considered valid parking lots.:P) The damage isn't that bad - I figure I just need a few more dings on that door, and I can justify having it repainted.XD

yeah, my mirrors fold. Good thing they do, because the left one did hit the SUV while I was trying to straighten out my car, but folded without causing any damage.^^;;;
