Very exciting! meganmurphy1977 February 4 2011, 22:38:59 UTC
The last H&V challenge produced some amazing stuff and I'm sure this one will be no different. Between this and dmhgficexchange, 2011 is shaping up to be Dramione-rific! :P)

I'm thinking that there will be a lot more coming at the ship for the anniversary, so 2011 is definitely going to be pretty epic! :D I'm glad you're excited!

Would 250k be considered "a bit over"?

Only a little! Haha, I fully realize the ridiculousness of me posting about a word count cap, but that's why it's only suggested. We wouldn't have done it had we not wanted to be fair to the other challenges coming up and now in swing where they need the participant to complete the request. So, around 10k is preferable so we don't mess with the exchanges, but if you turn out 250k, we're still accepting it. ;)

You'll be happy to know that my teasing has not gone without retribution - I have a story outline that fits my dmhgficexchange prompt perfectly, and its probably going to be about 70k (which is downright freaking huge, for me).

I always beta my own work, & I obtained permission to do so for the last challenge -- do I have to submit another sample, or am I already cleared for take off?

You'll have to submit another sample -- anything that hasn't been through a beta (beyond yourself, of course) or the H&V queue, and is anywhere between 1,500 - 5,000 words. You can send it to hvchallenge(at)gmail(dot)com again. :)

Sorry -- I don't understand. Are you saying send a sample of something now? I do have a challenge fic I can send, but it's top secret.

(It was you who checked my writing last time, and I haven't got any worse since then).

Either way! If you really want to do it early, we'll check it out. If you'd rather wait until you know you'll be past the beta requirement, and then send us an example from your submission, that's great. I just wanted to let you know the info now!

I'm going to send you a PM. :)

I missed the RC challenge, so this sounds like great fun :)

Hope I didn't miss reading the answer to this - but the prompts are generated by the mods, right?

We have a list of prompts -- so you can choose your own or we can assign one to you. Hope that helps. :D
