When I had a lightning strike a few years ago, it came in through the cable--so the TV and the cable modem and the computer got zapped, plus a kitchen appliance that was near an unused coax plug. Everything else was fine.
650gig was $80 from CostCo. It's a Toshiba-something.
They have better deals if you want to maximize gig-per-buck ... 2 terabyte external was $150.
The only issue so far reported by hubby is that they apparently really want you to use their proprietary backup software. To the point that they've formatted it in FAT32 meaning his Windows XP box backup failed when it hit the 4-gig-file limit.
Nothing a reformat of the drive didn't fix (and incidentally wipe out their software as well).
(I'm at the office now, trying to stay away from the wx long enough to get work done. Compelling stuff)
