Nope.
That was Kate's first thought when she'd woken up enough to realise her lack of hair didn't mean it'd been cut. It meant she was a guy. Considering which would be more horrifying took up several minutes that otherwise would have been spent panicking. The answer, of course, was being a guyBut okay, so she was in a new body. Teddy did it all

A visit with a bag of clothes for her, even. He was such a good older brother. Kate liked black, right?
He knocked on the door, kind of hoping that he was right in predicting what kind of weekend it was so that his help would be appreciated. "Kate? It's Alec."

"And you'd think that learning how to kill supernatural bad things would be a part of learning about them," he added. "Maybe not everything he mentions, but demons, at least. It could be important."
Not that he didn't already know, but still.

"Maybe he's afraid we'll start using it on each other," she joked. Though he had a good point that she hadn't considered before (because the Young Avengers lacked real tactics much of the time). "But - I agree. That part seems lacking."
Reply
You know, not from him personally, but still.
"And I've actually been told I'm allergic to fun," he added dryly. "I'm just... checking that you've made friends."
Even more pathetic.

"Hey now, we know that's not true." she teased, a weird mixture of touched and annoyed that he'd thought of asking such a question. "I mean, wasn't there sock shopping the other week? How'd that go anyway? Did you find some non-holey ones?"
Reply
Because buying socks was such a joy.

It probably wasn't much of a surprise, but he was just going to wring his hands anyway. Even though he and Sparkle had agreed to be open about it, he was still a little nervous.

She glanced at his hands then grinned at him. "But your sock date sounds awesome. Is he cute?"
Not that Kate's version of good looking would ever match Alec's (except in Jace situations and wasn't he the exception to way too many rules?).

"He is," Alec said, blushing again even as he was relieved that she wasn't horrified or anything. "His name's, um, Sparkle, if you know him? He's sort of... loud. And apart from him liking really strange pizza toppings, it was... a really good night."
Reply
"So you're the one that taught him how to shoot," Kate guessed. She could be wrong. But it wasn't like you forgot someone who introduced themselves in class as 'Sparkle.'
And please, Alec, Kate would be more than happy to take on the sisterly duty of punching anyone who was horrified in the face.
Reply
"Actually, yes," Alec confirmed. "I mean, you or Clint could probably do a better job--" seriously, what was it with the male archers in this town and their self-esteem? "--But yeah. He's in your class or something?"
Reply
No one would ever want Kate as an archery instructor.
She paused then added with a smirk. "He was shooting for a good bit though. He could probably use a backrub."

When in doubt, dryness was always a good response to being teased.
"I was going to ask, actually," he added, swinging his arms a little loosely, "given the clothing donation and all, whether you could go with me sometime to help me pick out, um, clothes to wear to the dance in a couple weeks?"
Oh, did he say that faster than normal? Yeah. He really did.

She pretended to consider the request. "Will you get rid of your terrible sweaters too?"
She'd suggest burning for the fun of it, but the poor atmosphere didn't deserve that.
Reply
That was kind of teasing. It was hard to tell.
