VIDEO: Scott Caan on E!'s Chelsea Lately, 1/24/13

Jan 25, 2013 17:23

Scott was the guest on the E! late night talk show Chelsea Lately last night. And he's apparently ticked off some people in Hawaii (unfortunately) by the way he expressed himself in the interview, in regards to living in their state while filming (some, mostly local Hawaiian, Tweets reacting to Scott's comments have appeared on my Twitter feed ( Read more... )

I think she was totally leading him with that crystal meth stuff etc. He has always been honest about missing his home in LA. That he enjoys Hawaii but not to live full time there and goes home whenever he can. He also, and did try to on this interview , explains that he likes the fast pace of the main land and that Hawaii is so relaxed for a person like him. I hope that this all works out and he learns not to let someone lead him like that. I don't think he realized at the time that it was happening. He seems like the type of person who doesn't care what others think within reason about him. I just hope this all works it's self out.
Why was he on her show, for h50 or more than that? I also didn't understand the living wiht his dad at the playboy mannor which could be cause it was the middle of that topic? Thanks for putting this up.

Hm, idk, no *real* reason to be ticked off. At least not with Scott. At first, like you said, he says the same stuff he always says, then it's CHELSEA telling this whole weird Chrystal Meth story. The only thing that's maybe a bit harsh is Scott's 'it sucks' regarding the food, but seriously, that's just a throw-away comment, also prompted by Chelsea.
And hey, he did say he likes it, if only for a few days at a time, which is true of many places for many people. Sometimes the 'relationship' just doesn't work *g*

What's really irritating me about this is the people who are screeching over Scott's comments without acknowledging that Chelsea brought up the topic of meth and the food, not Scott. When I first heard about this, I was all "Oh god, what did he say now?" Then I watched the video and it's nothing he hasn't already said before. He doesn't like living in Hawaii, so what? I wouldn't want to live there, either. Visit, yes; live, no. It's too isolated for me.

The whole food thing is subjective, but meth is a huge problem in HI, and the people who are denying it need to wake up.

I'm really annoyed that people are putting this all on Scott and none on Chelsea.

I see a lot of comments along the lines of "I would give anything to live in Hawaii", "I would move in a heartbeat"..

Really, you would leave your family and move across the world, just like that? Never, ever express any negative thoughts about the islands, never admit there are things you miss? I would *love* to visit Hawaii, maybe even live there for a while. But, I know would miss my family and friends, I would miss the food, even the snow... LOL

It is allowed not wanting to live there, not wanting to make it your permanent home.

I live in a place many people find incredibly beautiful, the fjords of Norway. But, living here is not for everyone.

Oh God I'd LOVE to visit Norway. That's more my cup of tea than Hawaii. I visited Hawaii years ago and loved it but I wouldn't live there. Hawaii isn't everyone's dream and Scott shouldn't be damned for admitting that out loud.

If you ever should visit Norway, May is a glorious time of year :)

I don't think Chelsea "led him on." Scott's a big boy. He can take responsibility for his own remarks.

That said, I personally didn't find the comments to be as bad as I had first imagined (probably because Scott's been more or less saying these things for years now but I guess more Hawaii residents pay attention to Chelsea Lately...)

I also think the people of Hawaii have been incredibly gracious and generous towards the cast and crew of H5-0 and probably feel quite an affinity for them, so I'm sure hearing "one of their own" say things like that feels a bit like a kick in the teeth.

tl;dr: Scott needs tact. Media needs to learn to ask new questions. Offended!Hawaiians, c'mon really? Chelsea is not some manipulative, evil she-devil luring poor, naive Scott into sin and blasphemy.

I have to agree. Although people are reacting hysterically about this, Scott is a grown man and he's an actor. He's been interviewed hundreds of times and he should know how to handle it. It's like our mothers always taught us, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Haha, I read your comment in the other comm and wanted to be like WORD. I love Scotty and Danno is my favorite character (one of the main reasons why I am still even watching the show, tbh), but there are so many moments where I just facepalm when he starts speaking negatively about H50 and Hawaii. On one hand, I do agree with him about the merits of the show (aherm) but on the other...geez, Scotty, don't bite the hand that feeds you. Way unprofessional, dude.

You know what I’m finding hysterical about all of this?

How many times has this show OPENLY dissed New Jersey and no one cared? Scott says some bad things about Hawaii and some of our crazier fans are up in arms and trying to get him kicked off the show.
