Talk to neonhummingbird. I just enabled her into a Nook Color with an SD card running Android so that it turns into a straight Android Tablet.

I LOOOOOOOOVE mine soooooo much. Plus refurbished Nook Colors can be had pretty cheaply at this point.

It can be a wee wee bit slow if speed is your thing. But for what I want it for (reading, web surfing/email/twitter/facebook checking while traveling, and game playing (Words w/ Friends, Draw Something & Hanging with Friends are seriously addictive)), it's perfect.

So, I'm thinking of giving my Toshiba Thrive to Mr. Havoc

what were your impressions of the thrive? did you like it? positives? negatives?

I bought it partly because it has external ports, so I keep an SD card in there with a bunch of books and videos, and I can also plug in a flash drive if I want to. Plus there's an external battery, so it's swappable. The problem, for me, is that it's on the heavier side of things with tablets, and I've come to the conclusion that I need to carry around something lighter. The medical problems I've had over the past few years will be exacerbated if I carry too much weight on a regular basis. Basically, I want a tablet that I can slip into a light carrying case with a built in keyboard (because a virtual keyboard isn't fast enough for my typing) that I can carry around with me without hurting either my stomach, knees, or ankle ( ... )

i saw a news report saying that toshiba's coming out with thinner, lighter tablets in a a month or two (may, june)

I would love Becca even if she and her show weren't as awesome as they are, because HELLO FEMALE ACTION HERO OVER 40. One who is active, yes, but does not spend her entire life in the gym. LOVE.
