Leverage 3.08 blow by blow

I really love the teasers for this ep. Not just because I've been looking forward to this since the cast and guest star were tweeting about it, though that's certainly true. No no. I love the teasers because my cable listings (among others across the country) said that there was a Memphis Beat re-run instead of, y'know, the new Leverage. Of course ( Read more... )

I'm skipping the review for now, since I haven't seen the ep yet. I was getting worried because our cable guide, on the cable box, says Memphis Beat is on at 9:00, but an online TV guide said it's Leverage. However, since you've seen it, I'll hope that means it'll be on here in 10 minutes or so.

Then I'll come back and read your blow-by-blow!

Yeah, I don't know what the hell got screwed up, but Tim Hutton and Dean Devlin were tweeting that certain local listings were very very wrong and it was airing as usual.I hope it doesn't fuck with their numbers... but at least they (and hopefully TNT) realize that the fuck up could and not to take the ratings too seriously for this week.

And doubly glad they're already renewed. :D Woo!

Yes, yay for renewal! And I did get to see it!

I wonder what would have happened if I'd set the DVR to record it, using the Memphis Beat listing? I dunno if it would have recorded whatever was in the timeslot, or just recorded nothing.

It should have recorded the time slot (the DVR doesn't know what's on, only what the box tells it is on). However, if you schedule your DVR to record new Leverages, it should have got the reair later.

Either way, glad you saw it! ♥

I wasn't crazy about this one because I have zero interest in cars, but it definitely had its moments. I got the Archie reference, but not the "crossing the streams" one. Did they say it was from Ghostbusters? I only saw it once, when it first came out, and I really didn't care for it, so I'm not surprised I don't remember.

I liked Parker mentoring Shorty, and trying to get her a job later.

I love it when the team is so efficient, even when their plans are screwed up. They're all so good at what they do!

When Eliot said he was also underwater, I thought Hardison said, "You should work on that," which I thought was a put down of Eliot, but I think "I should work on that" as in a new challenge for him, makes more sense.

That dinner scene was great. And they are a great little family, aren't they?

Dude, you didn't like Ghostbusters? I... think that's a first for me. Even most non-geeks I know liked it, lol. But yeah, it's from that.
Dr. Egon Spengler: There's something very important I forgot to tell you.
Dr. Peter Venkman: What?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Don't cross the streams.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Why?
Dr. Egon Spengler: It would be bad.
Dr. Peter Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good/bad thing. What do you mean, "bad"?
Dr. Egon Spengler: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Dr Ray Stantz: Total protonic reversal.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Right. That's bad. Okay. All right. Important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.
The "I should work on that" was an explainer moment, because otherwise Eliot being out of contact when they were all in range makes no sense at all. It also opens it up for the show to improve the earpieces/give them some new affect or something, because now we know Hardison's going to have been tweaking them. Which they may not follow through ( ... )

Hm, I may have to give Ghostbusters another shot. I didn't see it under the best of conditions. I hadn't wanted to see it, but went because my ex-boyfriend wanted to go and we were trying to go back to being friends...he called an hour after he was supposed to pick me up to say he was hungover. By the time he got there and we got to a later showing, I think I was probably too pissed at him to think about anything else, including the movie.

But hey, Sam and Dean like it, right? Worth another shot.

I think it would be great if this gave Hardison a chance to tweak the earpieces. And Parker making connections with people was great. Of course, Sophie had to explain to Nate that it was a good thing...Nate is my least favorite of the characters, though I really do like Timothy Hutton. I just don't like the way Nate is written most of the time.

I've got this really love hate relationship with Nate... and most of the hate comes through the filter of Nate/Sophie. I like Sophie as the ultra-grifter. I like when she's being "mom". I don't like when she nags Nate, because it always seems premature and like an over-reaction. That whole "I'm the only one that likes you" thing? Oi. The thing about Sophie "having to explain" is that she was playing mom -- imo from the way Nate was already acting, he wasn't half as pissed about the situation as Hardison and Eliot were in the car. We'll never know if he would have done the same thing for Parker in the end on his own, because we're forced through this Sophie/Nate scope where she's assuming he's a completed and utter bastard ( ... )

Bickering over pink slips

Okay, I'm guessing they don't talk underwear here - and I remember there's also a line in "Let's take a drive". So what's the idiom here? *curious*

At the end of the episode, Nate's talking about how Eliot's car (the one we see at the beginning of Gone Fishing Job, and that Nate uses to race in this episode) is now his car, because Hardison changed the pink slips - aka, the ownership paperwork. I think the very last beat (or almost last) is Eliot saying "I don't care what Hardison changed, it's my car" or something very similar. It's just proof that you bought the car, who you bought it from, etc.

Ah, that makes sense. For both the episode and the lyrics. Thanks!! :-9

I think Eliot actually gets more of those references than he lets on, he just pretends not to so that he can mess with Hardison.

(he must have watched TV as a kid, right?)
