But as an avid Bronte-lover and Madame's-Taste-appreciater, I'd love to borrow it when you're through.
I mean, really, "The Eyre Affair"?!?
Not to mention "Steampunkish version of 1980's".
Lady, you sure know how to write a critique.

On one condition - that you'll write your own review after reading it (I'm curious to know what you'll think about it)

p.s.

I didn't know you were an avid bronte lover. Darling, we have much to discuss...

Read it. Liked it. Mostly agree with you. atzmi June 28 2004, 14:38:49 UTC
The book has so many excellent ideas in it, is funny and everything, but I couldn't help feeling that "something was missing" - or, more precisely, "something was missed". I couldn't quite say what that something was, but I think that "soul" is as good a word as any.

By the way, I read it in Hebrew, and surprisingly, it was translated very well, as far as I can tell.

And yes, I highly recommend everyone to read this book, because first of all, it's fun.
