I'm writing in the big bang 2010

May 20, 2010 10:24

I  must be seriously crazy! For whatever insane reason, I'm pulling my "fiction" muse from the closet again and I'll submit a 20,000 word piece for the Star Trek Big Bang 2010. Last year's experience was more successful than I could have imagined because I met some great women during the posting/discussion process.

My most glaring failure was not ( Read more... )

Hello. I am dropping in per your invitation. I am Trek Lady on Trek.com and we had a very interesting discussion there. I came by to read some of your fic, but it must be at a different journal. As you can see, my user name on LJ is not the same as on trek.com, so we may have met before in passing. I am pleased to see you are writing for Star Trek Bigbang. I am also trying to complete a story for it this year. I look forward to your Uhura based fic.

Good luck with the writing thing...I find it hard to work in around my RL schedule, which is always pretty heavy. :)

It's extremely nice of you to drop by. Welcome.

Your name seems familiar, thus, you might have already encountered my alter-ego,Xia Sang Li. She writes. I rant. The distinction is necessary.

Since you're familiar with the StarTrekBigBang, you probably saw my Upheaval story last year. Which version, no one knows. You can find it and a fluff piece here ( ... )

"In fact, like you, I am rather peeved that Uhura is frequently written as just merely an extension of Spock ( ... )

Something the S/U fans might enjoy fee_folay May 29 2010, 15:28:46 UTC
I found a link I thought S/U fans might find interesting, but I really don't know where all the best places to contact such fans might be (seeing as I play for the oppostion... LOL!) But I thought of you, and if you consider the link something they might enjoy, maybe you would be willing to post it? It is a deleted scene from the original series - which features Spock and Uhura having a conversation about music. One does wonder WHY this was chosen to be deleated... too much focus on Uhura maybe? I hate to think so, but I am also not naive. Regardless of the reason it was cut, it is a nice little peek at "what might have been". Enjoy!

Could you tell me about your big bang entry for 2010?

Did you write one for 2009? If so, I'd like to read it regardless of the subject matter or the characters involved because I'm a Star Trek fan, too.

No, I didn't write for 2009, though I had a story that could have qualified if I had known about it, Instead it got quietly published on my LJ. Someday, I tell myself, I need to get my stuff out there in the bigger archives ( ... )

As soon as the fog clears, I'll read your pieces. I'll need a clear head because sensory detail is something that escapes me. A brain as scattered as mine has difficulty in this area. I do have lucid moments and I'll give your stories a good read during the very next phase.

You wrote a "disturbing" piece? Naturally, this piques my interest because I believe I'd probably be numb to the very things that cause others discomfort. I'll make this one the priority.

Sheesh....apparently Kirk needs a lot of rescuing...hmmmm. Wonder what that says about me and him)

I wonder if this is side effect of NuKirk. Every time I peep at Star Trek 2009, I'm grateful I was never a Kirk girl because if I had been, the movie would have been unbearable.

these pieces occur right in the middle of various events, so the reader is just sort of thrown in and expected to swim.I probably wouldn't be too disconcerted because one of my friends writes 80K stories similar to this in the sense that she writes whatever pops into her head and sends it to me to beta- ( ... )

I haven't heard from you recently, since I posted comments to your story Upheaval. I am concerned that I hurt your feelings with my feedback. Or that you hated the fic I recced. Please let me know if I have injured you in some way, as that was not my intention. I am more that willing to try and make ammends if that is the case.

I also notice that you haven't participated much in the BigBang discussions. I hope that everything is okay with you. Please, drop me a quick note to let me know how you are and if there is anything I can do.

THANK YOU for letting me know the reason behind your silence. Perfectly understandable - as much as we may dislike it, real life DOES come first! You don't owe me anything, so you really don't need to respond to my comments or read the fics if you don't wish. I am happy enough to know I hadn't upset you in some way and that you are well. Good luck with the grant! I know how nerve wracking that can be - my dad used to get quite grumpy when he was in the middle of a grant proposal write-up.
