But I wanted to have the proper icon. ^_^ I haven't had a female lj-icon in quite awhile.
Anyway, it both annoys and pisses me off when characters are bashed, particularly females and PARTICULARLY anime females (which is why I made my community
heroinesofslash). I really get incensed about the anime heroines though, because I came into anime FOR the strong,

"Congratulations, Peter. You have just hit the jackpot!" Or something like that. XD

Sorry, I'm nitpicky. :-D But yeah, I love that line. It's so cool. But some people actually DID cite that line as evidence that she was full of herself. Pleeeeeeeeeeease. It's not like Gwen or Felicia never said anything similar. (Maybe not quite so memorable, but...)

Don't forget Ukyo - she has a violent streak as well, and the double-standard applied by fen to Ukyo and Akane... Well, I have an Akane essay in me somewhere that was supposed to be my intro post. I'll get it out at some point.

Akane might have a bad temper, and be a little too hard on Ranma sometimes, but let's not forget that Ranma can be quite a jerk. And some tend to forget that Akane's a teenager, and teenagers are bound to have self-esteem issues. It's like they FORGET how it was to be insecure and think the world was out to get them. :P

No wonder she's so bitter about the subject... Poor Akane.
And if you're talking about M*** R***, you're right. So frigging right!

I haven't seen much Shampoo-bashing. The girl is evil - more so in the comics than the anime - but she's evil in such a fun, cute way.

I can't say that I like Akane that much (because that would be a DAMN DIRTY LIE), but I have respect for her and her fans. Unlike the Shampoo-haters.... >.> People always make her out as a slut who wants nothing more than to pimp herself out to Ranma. I swear, it's because of the way she talks, too... >

Well, no. Not at all.
It's made perfectly clear that Amazon law allows for polygamy if men defeat more than one woman in battle, so Ranma having multiple fiancees is not actually unfaithfulness according to Shampoo's own culture. Shampoo perceives Akane as an obstacle because she realises that Ranma is not polygamous, and that Akane is the only fiancee Ranma ever seriously acknowledges in a way he would never acknowledge Shampoo - not because he's engaged to Akane in the first place.
Kind of a crucial difference...
